CHOPPERS ABOVE WEST HOLLYWOOD SKIES, A BOMB HOT AIR BALLON ADVERTISEMENT SAYS “GOOD YEAR” – 3.29.11

Because eagles who can wrangle are US on American roads here’s three views of Hollywood skies today. The military are present with choppers flying over head. Busy.

And Good Year hires a hot air balloon in the shape of a bomb (why?!), above Hollywood with a message that it’s time to re-tyre one’s car.

I don’t know about you, but seeing a bomb above California as a marketing tool for economic development of a worldwide corporation based on rubber and steel products, is just a tad bit creepy. Jk.Good Year’s effort to be present and send their company message is creative though. Points for that! Everyone’s looking.

Here’s three views at sunset in West Hollywood. Hollywood is a city where every level of one’s senses is invaded. Look at these pics of the skyline in this Hollywood minute – there’s a lot happening above.

Five things we’re sharing in the hood on social media right now are:

1. Industry Town news – 1.6.11

2. Phoenix Phenom is a music artist – buffeting storms of her young progress

3. Kris Fa’afoiLady Gardiner are good people serving well

4. Humor – red neck wedding photos keep the USA amused

5. Pippa Middleton is on a diet for two more days

Alright car owners in California – help Good Year out! Rubber retreading is upon us. Peace!

In keeping with Good Year’s sense of humor, here are the names of their stars they offer California in this rather quirky snap shot moment. Products are -

HUMAN HACKERS, SOCIAL ENGINEERING – THE BOOK REVIEW BY BEN BROTHKE

Recently a friend sent me a link to the book review by Ben Brothke on the much talked about book in Hollywood, Social Engineering: The Art of Human Hacking, penned by Christopher Hadnagy and published by Wiley.

Hollywood is divided into two tribes of filmmakers. There’s those that unpicked social engineering by offering views of living different than what we may perceive to be good living. Avatar‘s green planet conservation film text over destroying the earth in war, was one such powerful moment. Or, on the other hand, Hollywood too can be involved in filmmaking to program people with texts of new trends (sometimes propanda – all cinemas do this to varying degrees with view points offered) embedded in films to help social engineering people along the lines of new orders of power, or, prescribing the ‘new norms’ of social behavior.

For these two reasons, I’ll give you some snippets of Ben’s review on the topic of social engineering (people hackers) as a courtesy to the friend who shared the link. Here we go.

A person’s brain (or mind) can be hacked like a computer. Christopher Hadnagy describes social engineering as being like a science of manipulation of humans. He writes  ‘tools are an important aspect of social engineering, but they do not make the social engineer. A tool alone is useless; but the knowledge of how to leverage and utilize that tool is invaluable.’

Studies on how people have been hacked reveal two important books before Hadnagy’s. These Kevin Mitnick’s The Art of Deception: Controlling the Human Element of Security and The Art of Intrusion: The Real Stories Behind the Exploits of Hackers, Intruders and Deceivers.

Hadnagy advances the social engineering (observational science of the process) by detailing how attacks take place. He writes, the social engineer needs to use a formal context for the attack.

Information gathering is the game. (We saw this in wikileaks for example with a global scandal in foreign affairs ‘secrets’ being spilled to other nations). Brothke writes ‘Social engineering is often misportrayed as the art of asking a question or two and then gaining root access. In chapter 3 on elicitation, the author details the reality of the requirements on how to carefully and cautiously elicit information from the target. Elicitation is not something for the social engineer alone, even the US Department of Homeland Security has a pamphlet (Pdf) that is used to assist agents with elicitation.

4. Coupon nation – when coupons are IT’s online grower, what happened to music?

AEROPLANES JAPAN ART VIA NYC AND FIVE THINGS – FRI 3.18.11

Thunderbolts beneath horses hooves cantering, racing through my subconscious blocking out Lululemon brutality carried on  cafe phone talk air. Basketball hoops go George Mason‘s way over Villanova. That was an upset in the sports world.

Alright – here’s five things we’re looking at and sharing right now in Hollywood.

1. Fergie, Josh Duhamel & a Miami Dolphins fan

2. Japan in crises should be LA drive time tolerance tutors

3. Gerard Butler has a word for cancer awareness

4. In St Barts one NYE, Beyonce thought she was at The Box in Soho..oops!

5. Guy Sebastian & Jordin Sparks rocked St Patricks Day in Hollywood

Two pics – Aeroplane Art by Yamaguchi Akira’s “Narita International Airport: Various Curious Scenes of Airplanes, 2005” is in this show at Japan Society. More Photos. The work is part of anxiety on the fault line as displayed in New York and curated by David Elliott. NY Times pic.

Elliott writes “In a densely urbanized, highly stratified society situated in the heart of an earthquake zone, the fear that the worst could easily happen lies at the back of many minds.” “The exhibition is called Bye Bye Kitty!!! Between Heaven and Hell in Contemporary Japanese Art,” a piquant exhibition of dark-minded work at Japan Society and a kickoff event for Asia Week, was conceived as a sharp counterweight to the cult of cuteness — kawaii — that has been Japan’s dominant aesthetic for decades.

This bridge pic of the Armagh Street Bridge is one of the most prettiest bridge views in the world, down in Christchurch, The Garden City, courtesy of the NZ Herald. The way the willows weep down towards the water, like old Japanese people bowed in prayer for the life of the young in their care. This was the bridge close to home, that I would stand and pray on after works some nights. Rarely… it was far much more fun to feed the ducks and swans on it, actually! Prayer is always work as you wrestle from spirit gut terrains. There’s someone missing in this picture, like a butterfly. Rouge and black silhouette.

ECONOMIC BULLYING LEADS TO CHILDREN AND ADULTS BULLYING EACH OTHER

[A word on bullying.-Photo caption - Hoover Law, Maryland]

Alright… we all survived the global economic crises, or, are surviving it again, now that Japan’s earthquake/ nuclear/ tsunami impacts are something we all feel and share too in our economic realities of the world.

The economic crises resulted in a few people (watch the Oscar winning documentary Inside Job) who screwed the majority of people in the world over, by what effectively equated to dishonest economic bullying.

This year, leaders of the world’s favorite pass time is to feign shock at the rising statistics of child bullying occurring in classrooms and schools as a trend of social behavior. It’s a real problem. Experts (instead of blaming the economic bullies of the world), blame social media culture. Bullying breeds bullying and it’s a top down trickle effect that creates it. I think we need to see bullying through an economic lens, to solve it. Or through a who needs fossil fuels/ rare earth minerals the most, lens too. That helps solve who the bullies of the world are too.

ARIANNA HUFFINGTON’S REALITY CHECKS AND 5 LINKS – HOLLYWOOD NEWS – 3.17.11

[Photograph of Arianna "The Aggregating AOL Alligator" Huffington - courtesy of Postcards Blog]

“Poor is the pupil who does not surpass his master. ”–Leonardo da VinciForbes Magazine featured website quote, today.

To steal without crediting other artists/ journalists/ photographer’s/ people enough… is never mastery. It’s a modern slavery narrative hidden beneath a salon daily, blow-dried comb over. It’s also not good American business practice. Like, this women doesn’t work in the steel industry.

Here’s five links we’re looking at as Arianna Huffington experiences whiplash, backlash in New York City for journalism mega aggregation. That story below.

1. Diversity as US – Saris are worn as colorful tattoos amongst Indian women

2. Hori humor – Tau Henare talks Hillary Clinton‘s last visit down under

3. Government flab – only Hollywood can help GOP reps how to act fit

4. Russell Crowe got his Hollywood star – walk of fame – a year ago next month

5. Japan’s clock has been rewound to WWII says Forbes Magazine

This story features aggregated content from Forbes:

That cute little boycott of the Huffington Post just got about 520 times more interesting. The Newspaper Guild, which represents 26,000 U.S. media-industry workers (34,000 if you include Canada and Puerto Rico) is endorsing a call by Visual Arts Source magazine (staff size: 50) to stop providing free content to Huffpo now that it acquisition of AOL has made a fortune for its founders.

“Working for free does not benefit workers and undermines quality journalism,” the Guild said in a statement. “Just as we would ask writers to stand fast and not cross a physical picket line, we ask that they honor this electronic picket line.”

SYDNEY LOOKS AT TSUNAMI FAKE PHOTOGRAPHS BEING POSTED ONLINE

This image was posted to various internet sites, claiming to show the impact of the 2004 Boxing Day Tsunami. It actually shows tourists who gathered to watch the results of a tidal bore on the Qian Tang Jian River in China.–The Sydney Morning Herald looks at Tsunami fake photographs being posted on the internet in a story. Weird.

The story notes, “So when it comes to photographs sourced from so-called ”citizen journalists” and social media sites, photographic editors are forced to take the view, in the first instance, that if a picture seems too good to be true, it probably is. As media professionals we do our own investigating and wait for third-party corroboration to help us decide. The internet tends to self-correct these things, too.”

Perhaps The SMH are giving AOL & Arianna Huffington’s ambitions to grow a ‘community journalism’ site a reality check about their claims to be able to bring news like this. SM follow the lead of the New York Times, who have recently questioned Huffington on her journalistic domination in the US now too. It’s a media war, obviously with stories like this.

The writers speak of journalism as a science of fact checking with this story angle approach. Social media (blogs too) blur that line of the science of journalism, yet cannot necessarily erode into the tradition of good journalism.

This clearly doctored photograph was posted to a social media site within hours of the 2011 Japanese tsunami, with claims by the poster that it represented the incident.

Clearly, there must be a few frustrated wannabe journalists in the world, when these pranks occur.

KAMIKO SAITO ON TWITTER AND LIVE LINKS BEING VIEWED – HOLLYWOOD 3.13.11

Kaimiko Saito introduced me to Twibbon, and shares these thoughts: “Kumiko Saito

Let’s all pray for everyone for japan. Lets think of the positive side , I am sure that a lot of people survived! Lets Be Thankful For That. We all have to believe and have faith in them. They will make it threw this because they are strong people , I know that!”
What a good attitude. At the minute ‘pray for Japan’ is the 5th biggest trending topic all American people are thinking about in the online community. It really is devastation beyond describale for any community to be enduring. Remember to, a blog post is in the ‘all kinds of prayer’ category as well these days. Prayer is not limited to traditional means, it’ IT related now too.

GRABBING FAME’S TIGER BY THE TALE – CHARLIE SHEEN INKS A 1 MILLION p.a DEAL WITH AD.LY

“I think they should just replace this guy all together. He’s a mess,” says Jeff of CBS in Hollywood.

Charlie Sheen may have danced around hot coals in the appearance of a very unhealthy dicey dance with Hollywood celebrity of late, but Sheen is however, appearing to line his biz ducks up in a row in the media blitz trainwreck show he’s turned out, over the past two weeks, off-setting oil, refugee, revolution, Mid-East news occurring concurrently.

All of us have tacked between feeling sorry for refugees/ rebels of dictators in Mid-East and North African nations, who had or have President-Dictators. Monarchies seemed to remain shaken but still on their thrones in similar Mid-East governed nations. Presidents appear to have gotten pushed. When our hearts got heavy with seeing people in deserts dodge bullets over oil realignment, distribution and control, we segued into Charlie Sheen news, then other celebrities news off the back of Sheen’s latest rant. HERSHLAG HOLLYWOOD POP CULTURE SHARES – 2.28.11

Hollywood has turned totally all educated Hershlag today. We’ve been seduced by an Israeli beauty.

Artwork above is by Louis Alonso bringing us the letter H.

This artwork reminds me of an artistic version of rugby football goal posts.

In rugby football you score by winning tries (like a touchdown) underneath and yet in-between, the base of rugby goal post’s “H” shape. The artistic version of Louis work is like rugby football goal posts that are made of steel too. Perhaps I’m posting this today in Hollywood as it says something artsy on this blog, about rugby football being broadcast from New Zealand via Hollywood-based TV production network Universal to me, in October this year. THE LION, THE JASMIN NOIR BOTTLE AND THE DUNST – POP CULTURE SHARES, OSCAR WEEKEND -2.26.11 @ 6.30PM

Remember when Kirsten Dunst got taken out of Hollywood cinematic life for a bit to be preserved for Spiderman the no.1 box office selling film franchise? Then, ‘the studio’ canned the idea of using the Dunst cast. Kiki found herself out of a Hollywood franchise. The Twilight Saga kids totally rocked out instead.

That was tough! Kirsten is a Hollywood institution. She’s as old as the Oscars that both Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt have never got in their careers. Kiki is their Oscar.

Yet, here’s Kiki bouncing back with a perfume advertisement for Bulgari from the set of Out of Africa or something. The only thing missing is the red scallops, so I guess I can add one of those via NZ’s pop cultural stamp collection, on E-Bid.

She’s not bad. On an inane afternoon, the night before The Oscars, here’s what we’re sharing as pop culture in the Hollywood hood on Horiwood.Com. Peace!
