GOOGLE TRENDS – US INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES SAY THAT GOOGLE IS A USEFUL TOOL OF US INTELLIGENCE NOW

“The traditional intelligence community is absolutely biased toward classified information,” said Lt. Col. Reid Sawyer, an Army intelligence officer and head of West Point’s Combating Terrorism Center. “I think that open source provides a critical lens into understanding the world around us in a much more dynamic way than traditional intelligence sources can provide.”

In a story where the US security industries realize that they missed the Arab uprising because they weren’t reading google trends, they now say Google is a part of modern Intelligence mapping.

What this means is… perhaps Google and Facebook, Twitter, Youtube owners are now required to give this information to US Intelligence, though the story doesn’t say that. Not a bad idea to read Google trends. All bloggers do. Most financially aware people do too.

Read NPR’s story here.

Did I mention that Harry Houdini is a trending Hollywood film topic in the works. Go here to read up. :) Should Daniel Radcliffe play Harry? Why not! As a young superstar Daniel thinks of metals, all people, teenagers welfare as well as doing live theater and delivering big time at the Hollywood box office. Give this lad the role.

For you did not receive a spirit that makes you a slave again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption as a son.”–Paul The Apostle General writer.

Costner has just signed to play Jonathan Kent in Zack Snyder‘s Superman reboot film franchise series. The role sees Costner as the adoptive dad of Henry Cavill‘s Clark Kent, playing opposite Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Cavill’s adopted mom in this film.

In Islamabad, thousands honor Shabbaz Bhatti, yesterday, as depicted in this photo via The New York Times. Bhatti was the Pakistani murdered for being a Christian. I think of words of scholars (theologians) in this moment who believe that ‘Democracy always follows Christianity’ in world cultures and societies, in the main. Many people would disagree with that thought. Yet, Bhatti’s matyrdom is an indication of a man who did not have freedom of speech or freedom of expression.

Below – a pic of a shooting jet, flying across California skies in memory of Shabbaz Bhatti, perhaps, and all of the people lost too in earthquakes, Middle East revolutions in the world at this time. The photograph was taken in Hollywood, five minutes ago. There is a face depicted in the clouds. Luis, a friend whose also an artist and painter tells me, he thinks the face is of a man wearing a suit and looking down. My computer is too crap, to get a big enough clearer picture, of whose face it is. It could be a young faced Abe Lincoln, or it could be someone else. Peace!

NEW YORK LOOKS AT CHRISTCHURCH CITY AND LIBYA WITH FRONT PAGE COMPASSION – 2.23.11

Todays paper via New York City. Christchurch City residents beneath a devastating aftershock earthquake’s rubble and the people of Libya are on our minds.

I was thinking too, that for over fourty years, Muammar/Moammar Abu Minyar Al-Kadafi has been playing the ‘scary’ guy on a global stage like… forever! Typecasting is a little lame in this show. World leaders have forever been relying on Gaddafi/ Kadafi to make them look good every time he appears in the news as the ‘scary control guy’ of the world. Just a thought. Apparently, a new government is being formed, with Kadafi Sr. on hand to be scary still, if needed. World leaders who know him (eg – the billionaires of the world, I wonder if they find him ‘evil’ as the newspapers do, or ‘a friend?’). But he’s had the starring role as politic’s villain for 4 decades now. Wow! That’s staying power. Barack Obama was a young lad when Kadafi first appeared being mega scary in 1969, that’s how long Gaddafi has been playing the scary guy via Libya. Unbelievable!

I’m sorry if those written thoughts offend anyone, yet I’m just writing that from a city that scriptwrites villains and sets them to cameras and verbage, to sell culture around the world – as Hollywood loves to do.

Like Shakespeare of old used to, we (Hollywood’s studio system) mimick what global leaders (or the perceived ‘nobility’ of a regime of ‘rulers’) do and we parody or try and seriously reflect as reality too, the direction world leaders are heading together, so the average Joe has some cultural continuity in the world at the movies or on their TV screens. I’m an average Joe too, so I should know! It’s just what we do in Hollywood. Apparently, we’re the best at it too.

So forgive me for being so honest with my “Hollywood glasses on” in a democratic nation, sharing an honest opinion. How else could Kadafi have been so ‘evil’ and lasted for four decades then, had this not been the case? I find it hard to read Gaddafi news, because it just means that anyone with shares in oil companies, gets rewarded – that’s what it adds up to, over the past four decades of Kadafi’s story lines he’s produced under a ‘crazy angry turban’ costume-prop, for his mates in the world. Kadafi has no relevance to the average Joe, who just lost their car or house, or, sister or mother or brother under a pile of rubble in a city hit by a quake. Neither does he have relevance to the poor of Libya, or the world either, who still struggle to make ends meet each week in the grocery carts. I don’t find him scary. I see him as a ghost of the past still playing ‘the West’s devil’ in a lame show, still going.

Getting back to this front page of the newspaper though, my heart is actually gutted for Christchurch people and the little people in Libya at this minute. There’s just no words. In Christchurch – this is REAL news. What can you do, except pray.

10. Tie B. Channing Tatum‘s GQ Cover

“Amongst all the media chatter about the British actor playing Superman, one person has remained mum, and that’s the man himself, Henry Cavill. Well, the Tudors star has broken his silence in a big way: he’s featured on the cover of this week’sEntertainment Weekly, donning a leather jacket over a battered Superman T-shirt. Inside, he opens up about his audition for the role, in which he had to wear the Man of Steel’s spandex suit and shoot a screen test in front of director Zack Snyder (300).

According to EW, “Cavill was feeling less than super in the moment, at least about his ability to fill out the costume: He had just finished shooting a film with Bruce Williscalled The Cold Light of Day, and the part required to him to shed the impressive abs of steel and muscle tone he had put on for the movie he made right before that, the forthcoming mythic fantasy Immortals.

When Cavill was in the suit, “Snyder saw something — or rather someone — different. ‘He walked out, and no one laughed,’ says the director. ‘Other actors put that suit on, and it’s a joke, even if they’re great actors. Henry put it on, and he exuded this kind of crazy-calm confidence that just made me go “Wow. Okay: This was Superman.”‘”–BBC News.

JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT BATMAN NEWS

3rd Rock from the Sun star, Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the actor who lost his bro recently.

He’s been cast in The Dark Knight Rises, the new Batman flick. Here’s the skinny on that news via Movies Online. CA and ComicBookMovie:

Well he has signed on to the film in a villainous role previously undisclosed until now. Levitt will be portraying Alberto Falcone aka the Holiday Killer.

He is the estranged son of former mob boss Carmine Falcone (portrayed by Tom Wilkinson in Batman Begins) who returns to Gotham to take over the underworld once fiercly ruled by his father before the arrival of Batman.

He’s a good actor. Should be a good role for this young man. Good Hollywood casting.

SNOW WHITE MOVIE MADNESS – JULIA ROBERTS ADDS THE DARK, TO NATALIE PORTMAN’S AMERICA’S SWEETHEART OSCARS PORTRAIT, 2011 IN HOLLYWOOD

If you live in Hollywood, we all know that it is Natalie Portman‘s year. The young actress is the (off-camera) face that most of Hollywood deems worthy to represent Hollywood’s more noble ideals, in cinema. It’s just Portman’s year. She’s paid her dues.

Julia Robert‘s has a good sense of humor, in acknowledging the Portman trend. Roberts creates space for Portman as Hollywood’s ‘pretty woman’ of 2011, by taking on the ‘dark side’ in her next film role choice. The subtext of this news story is perhaps that America’s Sweetheart has gone dark.

Here’s some juicy casting news: “Academy Award-winning actress Julia Roberts is getting in touch with her dark side this spring when she begins production on Relativity Media’s “The Brothers Grimm: Snow White” project.  Read the rest of this entry »

HENRY CAVILL LANDS THE LEAD IN SUPERMAN

“In the pantheon of superheroes, Superman is the most recognized and revered character of all time, and I am honored to be a part of his return to the big screen. I also join Warner Bros., Legendary and the producers in saying how excited we are about the casting of Henry. He is the perfect choice to don the cape and S shield.”–director Zack Snyder describing Henry Cavill (The Tudors) casting as Superman in the well known film franchise reboot.

Reports Film Jabber, “Henry Cavill will play Clark Kent and Superman in the upcoming Superman reboot, to be directed by Zack Snyder and written by David Goyer and Christopher Nolan. Henry Cavill will be seen in the gritty, mythical action movie Immortals, in theaters this Novemeber. Superman is to be released in 2012, presumably in December.”

KRISTEN STEWART IS RUMORED TO BE THE HOLLYWOOD FRONT RUNNER TO PLAY SNOW WHITE

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Twilight Saga‘s Kristen Stewart has been named as the front runner to play Snow White, alongside Oscar winner Charlize Theron‘s Wicked Witch character and Lord of The Rings Viggo Mortensen as the Woodsman in the movie Snow White and the Huntsman.

A hot casting line up already, if Stewart accepts the role. Her rep hasn’t confirmed or denied the news yet. I guess Kristen is asking Mark Zuckerberg of Facebook (in his new role as clairvoyant to politicians and stars) what Mark thinks about this news, and whether she should or not. Lol! HOLLYWOOD CASTING AGENTS TIP OF THE DAY -

“The studios want to be involved a lot more these days, in who gets cast in what. If they don’t like who I’ve found as their casting options, to give new kids a chance I always take the director aside and say, ‘this kid will be brilliant if you really just take them under your wing, work with them, and shoot them from your gut.’ Then the director gets it, then convinces the studio’s producers that the kid is who they want. But it can be frustrating for casting agents today.”

ORLANDO BLOOM RETURNS TO THE HOBBIT AS A MILLION DOLLAR GOLDEN ARCHER

Orlando Bloom is set to reprise his role from Lord of The Rings as the Elven archer, Legolas in Sir Peter Jackson‘s film The Hobbit. With Bloom’s Disney pirate following on Caribbean seas and his Aussie connections into the fashion world too in real life, this is money well spent I reckon! :)

THE JEWS ON MY STREET – 1.6.11

As I was observing the Jewish community gathering on my street, I was thinking how we don’t have many Jewish people in New Zealand. I grew up with some in primary school (grade school) and had one Jewish friend in college in writing class. Other than that, there weren’t that many Jewish people in my home town growing up.

I appreciate the Jewish community because if you look at world history, Jews are always living symbols of extraordinary survival and blessings. Many have what is called abiding wisdom – and I like that. I was thinking that in the coming years in Middle-Earth, we need some more.

Many Jews wear funny hats, like… all the time, it’s just their thing. Many don’t as well. I think more Jews visiting New Zealand or perhaps even deciding to live there too, is something that Ezra‘s generation would want in New Zealand in the upcoming future. I’m all for it. Now how can we make this happen, then? Good vacation deal packages perhaps? Or wait, they already exist.  :)

ROBERT PATTINSON SIGNS ON TO PLAY A BIZ SHARK IN NEW FILM COSMOPOLIS, LIKE THE SOCIAL NETWORK

Robert Pattinson gets more Facebook (The Social Network) friendly as a star watching world trends closely. Deadline reports, ‘Pattinson will star in Cosmopolis, the Don DeLillo novel adaptation that David Cronenberg wrote and will direct. Pattinson will play Eric Packer. A financial wunderkind, Packer risks his entire fortune to bet against the yen on a tumultuous day. His deed puts him in the crosshairs for assassination in a drama that is a study of capitalism in a slightly futuristic metropolis. Most of the scenes in the book take place in the limousine that transports Packer from place to place.’ A modern day road movie then. The easiest films to direct, with the movie to be carried by Pattinson’s face.

This pic or Robert Pattinson sourced from Cover Awards of New York who write today when observing magazine sales trends these words: “Men’s magazine editors take note: covers with topless pop stars, eight-pack ab-bearing models, Twilight stars who talk about vagina allergies and actors throwing karate chops/drinks sell like hot cakes on the newsstand.

Courtesy of the Audit Bureau of Circulations Rapid Report, we’ve compiled a gallery of the top selling men’s magazine issues of 2010. Leonardo DiCaprio on Esquire, Robert Pattinson on Esquire, Robert Downey Jr. on Men’s Journal, Rihanna on GQ and Sean Faris on Men’s Health. What do [you] think? Does the public have good taste?”

I think Cover Awards have good taste. They are consistently brilliant with all the magazine covers they provide us all year round. They have such a good website. After all, it is the cover that sells a magazine more often than not. Thanks C.A in NYC.

As Angelina Jolie gets to play Cleopatra in 3D for Sony Pictures as the Egyptian queen in a biopic, based on Stacy Schiff‘s biography Queen Of The Nile, Cleopatra: A Life. Director Scott Rudin declares that the as yet unmade film focuses on Cleopatra as a great ruler. I’m sure Angelina will be as classy as a flemish bunny’s hat like her kids Maddox, Pax and Zahara Jolie-Pitt are too when keeping the world fair.
