NATALIE PORTMAN’S OSCAR MOMENT, ABIGAIL OF CARMEL, RAHM EMANUEL, LEBANON HEZBOLLAH NEWS AND THE HORIWOOD TOP TEN – 1.25.11

The New York Times front page today contrasts Rahm Emmanuel‘s mayoralty hiccups in Chicago with Lebanon‘s new Prime Minister elect being picked by the Hezbolah. I grew up with a Lebanese family in New Zealand (5 generations of family friends now) who intermarried with Israeli people. Today was a significant day in Hollywood for me reading this front page.

What follows beneath our top ten is a story of an interesting woman. Her name was Abigail. As I go to The Abbey restaurant and bar sometimes in West Hollywood on Urban Sundays, I thought Abigail’s story as a key Peace keeper, was well worth a share today from the City of Angels.

Here we go, our top ten most interesting people of the celebrity entertainment news varietal today, as voted demoratically by you worldwide in Hollywood are:

1. One pic – When Chelsea Handler dated Ted Herbert

2. One pic – Before Natalie Portman was pregnant, engaged or Oscar nominated

3. Maori-Kiwi action star super heroes – taiaha art & kowhaiwhai prints appear in Hollywood

4. Lourdes Ciccone news

5. Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez

6. William ShakespeareMegan FoxPink‘s Brit tattoo-ed poetry

7. Jamie Lynn Spears, Casey Aldrige + Twitter

8. Top Cooks – Padma Lakshmi & Caroline Artiss

9. Jenelle Evans - teen mom growing pains news

10. TIE A: Keith Obermann is being cellard from MSNBC – a la Conan O’Brien

10. TIE B: Layla Nurrudin shares a mohawked shout out to San Francisco via Cali

This day in Hollywood was quite significant. Oscar nominees were announced. Today I met an Abigail too via France. Her namesake is listed in the books of Samuel (the first judge of Israel who doubled as the kingmaker of King David – a psalmist shepherd King). Abigail of Carmel was spiritual and described as being “beautiful and intelligent.” Her story can be read here.

The original Abigail of old, was wise, had a spirit of humility (chalk it!) and was a Peace maker. She lived a life free from the perks she ruled over. She fought mean-spiritedness with kindness. In trying circumstances, Abigail was a noble woman in spirit. To King David who was intent on getting revenge on his enemies (he was a bit hoha, a Maori word for done with trying to be fair), Abigail rode out to meet him on a donkey. These were her words in Hebrew, translated into English (Hebrew and Maori words follow too):

“The Lord your God will certainly make a lasting dynasty for my lord, because you fight the Lord’s battles, and no wrongdoing will be found in you as long as you live… Even though someone is pursuing you to take your life, the life of my lord will be bound securely in the bundle of the living by the Lord your God, but the lives of your enemies he will hurl away as from the pocket of a sling… May you not have on your conscience the staggering burden of needless bloodshed or of having avenged yourself.”

I thought Abigail of Carmel’s story was timely for the world today. Peace over War for the right reasons, as yet another key to live by and consider in the world. Because the story impacted me as light, I share it with you from Aotearoa-New Zealand in Hollywood, California. Centuries later, Abigail of Carmel is a celebrity in Hollywood today on this blog. What a fine individual she was.

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2011

The Lord is my light and my salvation, of whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid?

Miley Cyrus shares a peace sign outside her Toluca Lake home today, (Friday).

Happy New Years Eve America! Thanks for being so generous to those in need on Horiwood.Com at key, unexpected moments this year.

For what you do for others, you’re simply the best! I think this year, together we did catch a lot of grenades in the world for others as the earth was shaken and stirred like a dizzying martini in the natural disasters department. Many of you were such superstars surviving those hurdles this year also! Wow!!! This year I observed you giving to others on and via this blog.

That part always humbles me so much. I live in Hollywood, but you are Hollywood’s big stars to me, when I see you move, act and make a difference. For those who also helped me too this year, sincere thanks. For those we lost and mourned, never forgotten. Their memory burns bright in our hearts.

Peace, Mauri ‘Ola Tatou (Life to US) & God Bless.

Rugby football player and boxer Sonny Bill Williams perhaps best defines the spirit of people living in the US in these times. You have to box. It’s sort of the new Hammer Time sentiment! These are the times in which we live. Sonny is pictured above on the left in the boxing ring. You’ll get to see more of him during Rugby World Cup 2011 perhaps.

Music: Bruno Mars with Grenade, no 1 song in the USA at time of writing. This pic, Tame Iti and New Zealand’s PM John KeyHerald greeting in the Maori hongi by pressing noses. It’s a photo to look closely at, for when you do it too on your visit to New Zealand. These are my people.

Alright, time to find my atheist friends now, celebrate and see in this brand new year!!!

NICOLE KIDMAN’S “RABBIT HOLE” MOVIE TRAILER LOOKS FANTASTIC

“In the darkness there are treasures”–Rosie Foot, a twin who is a songwriter, country music singer, like Keith Urban is of New Zealand.

“Where can I go from your Spirit? Where can I flee from your presence? If I go up to the heavens, you are there; if I make my bed in the depths, you are there. If I rise on the wings of the dawn, if I settle on the far side of the sea, even there your hand will guide me, your right hand will hold me fast. If I say, “Surely the darkness will hide me and the light become night around me,” even the darkness will not be dark to you; the night will shine like the day, for darkness is as light to you.”–King David, Psalmist Shepherd King.

Loss is a great teacher. There is no knowledge of true and pure joy without also seeing joy in the light of loss. Jewish mystiks tell us that in darkness there are hidden treasures. These can be found in places of grief, loss and grieving–believe it or not!

Nicole Kidman is evolving her entertainment resume as a Hollywood film producer while her peer Angelina Jolie is evolving as a Hollywood movie director. Here’s Nic’s movie trailer for Rabbit Hole a story about grief, as her debut producing effort of her Hollywood production film company, Blossom Films. Nic is Golden Globe nominated in this role.
