HI HONEY, WE BOUGHT A ZOO! THE CHALLENGES OF MORDERN GOVERNANCE… AND BENJAMIN MEE’S BOOK

Before I left America, I noticed this book, We bought a Zoo by author Benjamin Mee. The book concept made me smile, because if you can convince everyone in the world that each nation is a zoo (as a metaphor), then we can set up systems of zoo keeping – and convince everyone they are good.

Following this concept (not the concept of B.M’s book) the eventuating result would be that the world will become governed by zoos that all look the same–in time. The global village concept that is invetible.

There’s only one problem with this concept though. The real ringmaster is hidden. Other peoples efforts of zoo keeping in each circus zoo (nation) get served up to the hidden (yet to be revealed) ringmaster.

Benjamin Mee‘s book concept is a lot more simple. It is about “The Amazing Story of a Young Family, a broken down Zoo and the 200 wild animals that change their lives forever.” I like the concept a lot. It should be a film. Back to the concept though of nations as zoos for circus ringmaster owners.

Zoo keeping is simply about real estate. It is not about culture. It is about who owns the real estate. Culture is its distraction. Zoo keeping, ironically isn’t even about zoo culture. It’s about the price of tickets to the show via real estate or asset sales. If wealthy, you simply buy into the circus you want to be a part of. The zoo keepers of every territory, will happily sell their circus ring off. All of ‘the spectacles’ in the zoo, then earn money for the owners with shares on the soil of the circus ring they own. It’s like carving up real estate, to sip from a kava bowl with elite people of the world.  Often wannabe kava bowl sippers wear a lot of leopard print. They give an illusion of feral qualities. In their need to upgrade, they can be viewed as being rather cute.

7 THINGS – HOLLYWOOD – 3.30.11 @ 8.30pm

Mason Disick shines as a tot whose not camera shy. And Kris says kids should be “working at 13 with real jobs.” Hers she says have been. Read the story at Oh No They Didn’t!

Seven things we’re sharing in Hollywood in this moment are -

1. Fighter jets nondisclosure & Canada’s government topples

2. Wendi Murdoch steps up to make Hollywood more relevant

3. Hell – The Rugby World Cup is going to be good this year

4. Jeremy Irons new TV series intrigues to date

5. Learning from 1975 ethics leaders in the nuclear energy & electricity department

6. IT guru, Kevin Kelly talks “flow” as a key trend of IT convergeance – with paid access

7. Lionel Richie & Guy Sebastian will remake a classic for a good city in recovery

Seriously though, Kris’ point is parents creating jobs for their kids, who then create jobs for others is a guaranteed way to help an economy out. For example Kim employs a bunch of people in Hollywood with her online marketing endeavors in fashion accessories etc. They’re an industry employing locals here in Cali.

For that the Kardashians have a point. Families have to make it happen. This lot are.

THE HORIWOOD TOP TEN – MON 3.29.11 AND YASMIN BIDOIS IS A MODEL WITH STRENGTH

Yasmin Bidois is 15 with a dream to model. Rachel Hunter did it and is now a fine humanitarian for others recovering from traumatic earthquake devastation. Petra Nemcova succeeded too in modeling and also surviving freak Tsunami tragedies. Both the latter girls have entertained the USA on reality TV series, such as Dancing With The Stars (Nemcova, just beginning this dance show at the time of writing).

Can a teen like young Yasmin Bidois, follow her heart in the same direction and lead?

There’s something about this young lady, where perhaps Yasmin too can use her platform she achieves in life for the good of others, reflecting her strength of spirit as well. She’s from good people. I know some of them.

For more on this beauty of Kiwiland, go here. Any dream is possible. Go kid.

As I write from the USA water filters rate big on all Americans minds (perhaps radiation fears have escalated this trend). Today, one has to say, what a diverse people America can be, especially in sunny California.

For living here, for almost five years now, I can say that there’s no place quite like it. One must definitely visit.

Alright, here’s our top ten today:

1. Six things – Hollywood Blog Shares 3.20.11

2. Japan, two weeks on, in pics – 3.25.11

3. Russell Crowe salutes cricket in Wellington

4. When Eugenie of York hit the club in London

5. Katy Perry‘s mother is peculiar and a rater

6. Bob Herbert – the conscience of New York resigns to write a book

7. Cricket hits googles no.1 ranking spot in the USA – 3.29.11

8. Phil Goff talks about assets stripping, selling off a nation’s resources, apparently!

9. Miley Cyrus and family go for coffee in Toluca Lake

10. Darren Aronofsky defends Natalie Portman‘s dancing ability in film

WASHINGTON POST HONORS THE NEW YORK TIMES INFLUENCING OP-ED COLUMNIST’S RESIGNATION

His voice was the thunder of American justice in the newspaper. He spoke of real people and the erosion of their human rights in climates of economic bullying from the elite, killing America–Bob Herbert’s tribute. Photo via Media Gwhatchet.Com

Bob Herbert quit the New York Times. He was described as ‘The Conscience of the Paper’ by his boss. Now The Washington Post‘s E.J Dionne Jr. takes some time, to thank one man’s ability to keep his reporting in reality, for almost two decades. Here’s those words in our Guest Commentary spot of op-ed reporting today within the USA.

New York Times columnist Bob Herbert has written his last New York Times column, but I hope and expect he will stay in the debate. He lived up to the venerable injunction that journalists should comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable. We need his passion.

More than any other columnist, Bob has stayed on the story of the left-out: the poor, and working people whose incomes have stagnated or fallen through the floor. He heard them out and told their stories. He paid close attention when Washington had a chance to act on their behalf, and when, too often, it missed those opportunities or made things worse. He never pulled punches about the scandal of growing economic inequality in the United States — and in his final column on Saturday, he made sure to remind his readers of how big a scandal it is:

Through much of the post-World War II era, income distribution was far more equitable, with the top 10 percent of families accounting for just a third of average income growth, and the bottom 90 percent receiving two-thirds. That seems like ancient history now.

The current maldistribution of wealth is also scandalous. In 2009, the richest 5 percent claimed 63.5 percent of the nation’s wealth. The overwhelming majority, the bottom 80 percent, collectively held just 12.8 percent. . . .

Overwhelming imbalances in wealth and income inevitably result in enormous imbalances of political power. So the corporations and the very wealthy continue to do well. The employment crisis never gets addressed. The wars never end. And nation-building never gets a foothold here at home.

Miles Rapoport, the president of the progressive think tank Demos, put out a statement that captured Bob’s achievement well:

He listens, truly listens to the stories, lives, and voices of ordinary people. He writes about people unjustly accused by the criminal justice system, of people unjustly victimized by the predatory practices that characterize so much of our economy, of the lives ruined by war.

He writes about what is important, and fundamental, like the people whose dream of a middle class life for themselves and their children is slipping away, and the “unconscionable” ways inequality is eating away at our society and our soul.

He refuses to heed the constraints of the world of “excluded alternatives.” The fact that some ideas– like raising taxes, expanding services for poor and working people, ignoring the deficit hawks in favor of real social investment–are “off the table” in our political debate is exactly why we have needed journalists like Bob to try to expand those boundaries and help us do the right thing as a nation.

Yes, Bob expanded the boundaries. He followed his own star and didn’t care a bit if what he wrote about bore little resemblance to the political agenda that was dominating the capital at any given moment — even as he also sought to move that agenda in more promising directions. I suspect Bob appreciated the Old Testament prophets of justice: Micah, Isaiah and Amos. Bob’s voice thunders, and it is a righteous thunder.

BIRTH CERTIFICATE HUMOR – DONALD TRUMP WAS BORN THIS WAY, A ‘JAMAICAN’ NEW YORKER

In Australia we have a Prime Minister who was born in Wales. Australians are cool with that. Here in the US, you can’t be a President of the USA unless you were actually born in America. The pecking order is tied to blood being born on landscape.

Donald Trump, a reality TV star and investment developer, wants to do two things. 1) Curb Sarah Palin and 2) jokingly get President Barack Obama ‘up to speed’ by being his pretend villain of show biz, who could run for President of the USA like John McCain and Barack Obama did about two years back.

Here’s that story in bullet point form. Donald produced a copy of what he believed was his birth certificate that he posted on the ABC News website indicating the potential presidential candidate was born at the Jamaica Hospital in New York on June 14, 1946. His mother was born in Scotland. Not Donald. He was born in New York City, USA. The document, issued by the New York City Department of Health was a ‘certificate of live birth’ (what a hospital gives a family when a baby is born), yet this is not an official birth certificate.

That’s an entirely different document.

Michael Falcone reports: ”A ‘birth certificate’ and a ‘certificate of live birth’ are in no way the same thing, even though in some cases they use some of the same words,” wrote Trump staffer Thuy Colayco in a message to ABC News. “One officially confirms and records a newborn child’s identity and details of his or her birth, while the other only confirms that someone reported the birth of a child. Also, a ‘certificate of live birth’ is very easy to get because the standards are much lower, while a ‘birth certificate’ is only gotten through a long and detailed process wherein identity must be proved beyond any doubt. If you had only a certificate of live birth, you would not be able to get a proper passport from the Post Office or a driver’s license from the Department of Motor Vehicles. Therefore, there is very significant difference between a ‘certificate of live birth’ and a ‘birth certificate’ and one should never be confused with the other.”

Politico’s Ben Smith also wrote on Monday: As I wrote earlier, an official copy of Obama’s birth certificate — the same thing Trump would have to prove his own birth — has been available and online for more than three years.

So, all this grandstanding, for nada much political then.

What’s in having a political face for Donald Trump and doing ‘political press’? Publicity. Capitol gain. For himself, no one else, in Trump’s version of a Presidential campaign. Perhaps why this story is mildly amusing. Trump is parodying the political system at this minute.

In terms of the celebrity game, Trump is doing shades of Obama, Bob Marley (Jamaica – maybe even Rihanna) and definitely Lady Gaga too. Ridiculous!

In Australia, politics is a little bit different.

THE TOP 10% OF THE USA, WANT MORE BLOOD – THE ART OF MILITARY RECRUITING VIA HISTORY RESEARCH AND COUNTING

When men and women give their lives for noble and just causes that are fair for the majority of people on earth, this is wisdom.

When men and women give their lives for an elite who revel like pigs in their own injustice, this is not wisdom or humane but stupidity. If one plays the numbers game.–Horiwood.Com

If a man or women holds three weapons at once in a photograph, as opposed to three cheques that have the power to fund three water bores in villages of people in the world who don’t yet have daily access to safe drinking water, is the person holding the weapons or the cheques prolonging life of good people–more the hero or not?

__

Here’s a story about ‘blood is thicker than water.’

We live in an era where people matter, if they’re dead. Count Von Dracula can count. It’s like a corpse economy as a currency of history’s ghosts. Like double indemnity, cashing in the blood of war’s martyrs to recruit for a new sense of renewed power refueling identity in the blood of democracy.

It’s like a muster. Unless we drink the blood of new people’s live on war’s battlefields we feel like we are losing our place in the world. Or, we have lost our way.  Read the rest of this entry »

KIM KARDASHIAN TRIES TO TALK “WORKING WITH A WHITE TIGER” PRESS

“I tried posing with the white tiger at our family photo shoot for Keeping Up with the Kardashians season six last week, but I was so scared!!!! The tiger had to get into position on his own! It was freakkkky! He got a little frisky so the trainer had to come help out. This is probably one of the scariest moments I’ve had during a photo shoot.”

Cryptic. Whatever you make from this, obviously Kim is not at liberty to say, what she’s really saying on her blog. In any event Kim’s chest still shines. I guess she’s saying there’s a tiger in the room and she doesn’t know what to do.

Last year was the year of the white metal tiger in China. This year, it’s the year of The Rabbit according to the Chinese new year. I don’t think Kim got that memo yet. In addition, scary is what’s happening in Japan. Per se for many people, not necessarily the latest Kardashian family photo shoot. Kim’s always a laugh though. She tries.

SUPER RESCUE BEACH FOOTBALLER OF THE IRISH, JARRYD HAYNE, EELS TEAMMATES GIVE HIM HELL

Voting hot in Hollywood today on this blog is Jarryd Hayne star story in a rescue mission where Hayes, an NRK footballer looked a little bit Dean Cain or Henry Cavill. See Jarryd’s eye brow WTF-ing heroic efforts interview here.

Basically, with his uber hot Polynesian origins in the South Pacific, Jarryd is a hit reality TV series just waiting to happen.

Now Jared’s Paramatta Eels football teammates are taking the mimi, out of Haye’s good efforts. They are likening him to The Hoff (David Hasselhoff) of Baywatch fame days. How Hollywood of them. Love it.

One quote via the Sydney Morning Herald comes via a teammate Luke Burt who notes, “It shows what kind of a man he is to go out there and do something like that” Apparently Jared is betting at surfing then swimming in the training pool for his sports game. This fact was parodied at the press conference when Jarryd’s football captain Nathan Hindmarsh said, ”What he did was awesome; he saved someone’s life.” In down under humorous fashion known to Australia and New Zealand, Nathan had jokingly mocked Hayne by entering the press conference with a kickboard. Lol!

“It’s great that he did something like that for a struggling swimmer. It shows what type of kid he is and what type of man he is to get out and do that. He did a great job,” said Burt of his star teammate who knows how to conduct league football crowds like few can, when he arrives on the football field.

CHARLIE SHEENS RADIO CITY HALL TOUR DATES SELL OUT

Charlie Sheen maybe everyone’s favorite crazy TV Uncle in Hollywood, having public melt downs across all social media platforms, yet Radio City Hall of New York are forking out to see Charlie live in concert on his live nation tour.

Sheen stands to pocket $7 million from The Tour. Or, he gets 85% of all door takings to his gigs. That’s better than spending 14 hours on set 3 days a week, maybe. Why does this man resonate with the underdog so strongly? He’s like a rock star for Live Nation.

More at TMZ. In addition Seattle.PI report: ‘Sheen will be in the Comcast Arena in Everett at 8 p.m. on May 3 to continue his reign as the warlock of morbid fascination. The show is said to be for “mature audiences,” and no one under 18 years old will be admitted. Time to lock up your… well, lock up everyone. Just to be safe.’

The UK Daily Mail focuses their Sheen news on a recent poll conducted by Public Policy Polling. The poll reveals that ‘the fallen star (Sheen, I take it) was placed in hypothetical election match ups with the former Alaska governor (Sarah Palin) and Barack Obama. When given the choice between Palin and Sheen, Democratic voters chose the actor over the 47-year-old Palin, by a 44-24 majority.”

Ridiculous! :)

TYRA BANKS TALKS HARVARD BIZ SCHOOL

A Tyra Banks story for today with five news items being viewed in Hollywood.

Says Ms Banks on being accepted to Harvard Business School, that she imagined she’d be living “at the Four Seasons down the street,” she told Jimmy Fallon on ‘Late Night.’

But staying in the dorms is mandatory — even for a high-profile ex-supermodel with her own TV franchise.

While she has her own bedroom, the 37-year-old shares a living room, kitchen and study area. (What about the bathroom?). Now she says, she ”wouldn’t have it any other way. It’s like summer camp.

Every time a term ends, I get withdrawal … I miss my friends. I miss my professors. I miss living in these dorms.” Watch the clip after the jump!

When millionaires go to biz school, it’s a little bit hard to read and not laugh, but good on TyTy being the pin up girl of rich Americans even, going back to school. Wasn’t it James Franco last year? Yeah… I think it was.

1. Michael Kane & The Dark Knight Rises

2. Khloe Kardashian talks the hyping of TSA Airport security

3. Sammy Hagar talks survivng debauchery in the Van Halen years

4. Grenade by Bruno Mars

5. Hiking in The Waitakere ranges and US

The weird thing about Tyra, is that she’s a local LA native. All of the people who went to high school with her, say she hasn’t changed a bit. How she is on TV, was how she was in class. Full on, obnoxious fun. They still love her and she still keeps in touch with them. Good for her!

SCOTT DISICK GETS REAL, ADDRESSES SELF CENTEREDNESS PRICK FACTOR – AND 5 HOLLYWOOD THINGS – 3.13.11 3.30pm

It is the art of the American reality star to be as honest as one possibly can while turning out a show in the USA, offering commentary on culture.

After all, this is the job of the reality TV star, in the age of ‘reality television’ and the lucrative deals that follow (not for the show) but with endorsements. It’s millionaire-making terrain.

The Kardashian-Jenner family rule this entertainment platform in the USA (there’s so many of them, they’re able to cover trends, sort of like subtle moss in a jiffy!).

Scott Disick has the job of justifying the firms already shot TV series that have all already been filmed, in light of current global crises occurring all around us in the world. He’s a good lad. Thank goodness for tabloids, as what’s missing in the show content’s relevance, this family can make up for, in new tabloid stories.

Here’s what Scott has to say today, ”You know, I just realized there’s bigger things in the world than just being a selfish, self-centered, prick,” Disick, 27, told PEOPLE recently at the Famous Stars and Strikes Event benefiting A Place Called Home at Pinz Bowling Alley in Studio City, Calif. Scott’s comments were also made in relation to his recent stance to ‘give up the booze.’ It’s like dude, moderation man! His comments are good today.

We all have self-centeredness to work on and re-prioritize in light of a world we actually increasingly share more in being a part of, so I welcome Scott’s comments today. Trending sentiments for the USA even. Today Disick looks like a reality TV show guru. :)

Here’s 5 things we’re voting and sharing as social media in Hollywood right now.

1. Fukushina Iwaki Japan evacute 170,000 in nuclear meltdown scare

2. Polynesian’s greatest boy band Nesian Mystik are humble and Hawaii-50

3. Model citizen Christopher Chandler

4. The Bush family have a budding writer

5. Petra Nemcova inspires with real life experiences – Love her!

JAMES DURBIN WOWS HIS KIDS ON BROADWAY PRODUCER, IN ‘DANGEROUS’ AMERICAN IDOL PERFORMANCE

“If you had told me back in 2006 that he would be doing this on ‘American Idol,’” said Daria Troxell, the producer of Kids On Broadway’s Singin’ in the Rain, which starred a then 16-year-old Durbin, “I wouldn’t have believed it. KAT VON D GOES SHOPPING AND KEY LIME PIE ON SUNSET & FAIRFAX IS THE BEST

Kat Von D goes shopping. Pic via Splash. I saw Kat about four nights ago at the new burger diner, next to Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf on Sunset and Fairfax. A paparazzi snapped her pic.

She was dining with a girlfriend and she was like “dude, I’m just chilling out man.” Then she drove off in her black Bentley. Tattooing is a lucrative bizzo in Los Angeles.

She’s a sweetheart.

BTW – The burgers are tumeke at the new burger joint and their key lime pie is the best. Not too sweet or too sour. Just right.

NICOLE SCHERZINGER IS IN THE RUNNING FOR US X-FACTOR TALENT SHOW JUDGING

Ex Pussycat Dolls hottie, Nicole Scherzinger confirms that she is still being considered to do the J-Lo for Simon Cowell in growing the US hopes of X-factor’s judging talent in the reality TV shows talent show markets.

Via Digital Spy, Scherzinger says “I don’t know [if I have the job]. I’ve spoken to Simon [Cowell] a few times, but the offer hasn’t been made official,” she said. “We’ll have to wait and see. I don’t think I’d be too upset if I didn’t get the job. I’m a strong believer that everything happens for a reason. I know that it is a huge commitment, but I’m a game-player and if they chose me I’d put my all into it.”

GRABBING FAME’S TIGER BY THE TALE – CHARLIE SHEEN INKS A 1 MILLION p.a DEAL WITH AD.LY

“I think they should just replace this guy all together. He’s a mess,” says Jeff of CBS in Hollywood.

Charlie Sheen may have danced around hot coals in the appearance of a very unhealthy dicey dance with Hollywood celebrity of late, but Sheen is however, appearing to line his biz ducks up in a row in the media blitz trainwreck show he’s turned out, over the past two weeks, off-setting oil, refugee, revolution, Mid-East news occurring concurrently.

All of us have tacked between feeling sorry for refugees/ rebels of dictators in Mid-East and North African nations, who had or have President-Dictators. Monarchies seemed to remain shaken but still on their thrones in similar Mid-East governed nations. Presidents appear to have gotten pushed. THE ANOMALY OF KINDNESS

An Anomaly can be defined in many ways. Kindness is always the best one! Be kind. :)

To know people. To include people. To see others on an equal footing as ourselves, is being human.

When we lose the ability to do this, we lack love. Amnesty International ensures that love is at work.

Until we look a complete stranger in the face and say “you’re my brother” or “you’re my sister” because we are human, then we are children, pretending to be superior but merely hiding behind adult masks of material possession acquisition. To acquire without love flowing out as well, makes us lose our humanness.

Although new to this nation, I’ve welcomed foreigners into America. It has been a pleasure to do so, because in them I see a future I believe this nation needs.

America is changing. Rip your poker face off, and know the thrill of helping others in need in the world who need Liberty as much as we do. Just do it. I think it’s rather thrilling when we do. Many things being offered in America as being liberating, or freeing —  actually enslave. Yet, when we help others in need we demonstrate our liberty in full effect.

Liberty is always expressed by free people extending this concept and spirit to others. In a way, welcoming new people into a nation are liberty’s fresh waves – like a new moon’s tide a nation needs to replenish itself. Without Liberty, we stagnate.

Kindness is our compass of the heart that incites us to see others equally. I’m all for building an America based on kindness, equality and humility in recognition of the shared humanness complete in others, when we complete it. They also complete US.

Amnesty International do it all year round. Click on this pic to make a difference if you’re feeling it. Cheers!

SAMMY HAGAR TALKS SURVIVAL, WITH SNOOKI CONTINUING TO WORK FOR GEORGE W. BUSH OF TEXAS

I couldn’t help but notice that on the cover of Rolling Stone, Sammy Hagar a heavy metal star, many kids may not even know of today (but who rocked!) brings us the story Surviving Van Halen: My Years in the Most Depraved Band Ever. I wonder if Sammy will do a duet with Casey Abrams of American Idol this year then? Not a bad idea.

Oh… and Snooki makes like filming a reality TV show is like “living in prison, with cameras.”

In this headline, I’m joking about Snooki really working for George W. Bush of Texas. I write this because one day a twenty-five year old kid, Sean, said to me. “I don’t watch Snooki’s show. All of those Jersey Shore people, they’re just chosen by ‘the system’ to be celebrities. They want us all acting like them. Dumb and stupid. They hope that Snooki and The Situation will distract us, so they can go ahead, do whatever they like and keep taking all of the money.”

Meow!

I’ll leave you with Young Hollywood’s view on this cover then. How else do you explain this? Personally, I like Snooki. She’s cute.
