SELENA GOMEZ SINGS FOR CANCER AWARENESS
Sunday night at the Concert for Hope to raise money for cancer research, Disney’s reigning princess, Selena Gomez was seen a) tweeting and b) singing live.
“So excited!!!!! performing Who Says for the first time tonight at the Concert for Hope,” she beforehand.
It’s good to see Selena performing for a good cause.

THE FBI TAKE A CLOSER LOOK AT VANESSA HUDGENS NUDE PICS, HACKING SCANDAL
Vanessa Hudgens is someone who I have not met. People I know who have worked with Vanessa here in Hollywood say she is so beautiful in person, she actually hurts to be around. Her eyes are breath taking apparently.
Anyway, Vanessa had her 100th nude pics leaks scandal recently in her relatively young career as a Hollywood star.
Not to worry, Vanessa has a lot of support this time round. Namely from the FBI who have met with Hudgens and her lawyer for an hour to take a closer look at her invasive breach of privacy. Hacking is not cool. It’s like rat’s scurrying down internet wire lines for a digital whiff of Vanessa’s coochie she has not consented for them to peek at. Not cool.
The only difference between Vanessa and Selena Gomez for example is about four years. Both are Disney spun girls. Selena at 18 has already requested ten more security guards just because she’s dating a famous Canadian teen. Vanessa, whose just pressed the “cool it” button with Zac Efron, on the other hand is very low maintenance compared to you Selena. She has zero security guards.
It’s good that she’s getting her case investigated though. Hacking is sooooooo invasive! Stars taking naked pics of themselves in the first place is a mystery. When you blog, the story line rhetoric of scandals like this are… ‘this is a picture of me, directed by me, starring me, distributed by me sometimes, naked pics leaked by a hacker monster other times.’ It’s very Kardashian to do such things.
It’s all about a battle for control over a person’s own representation themselves. So far, since those High School Musical hit movies that spawned Glee on TV, control over Hudgen’s own representation (post Disney’s years where Hudgens was their signed star and then post helping making Zac famous) has been this California beauty’s ongoing battle. Let’s hope she lands some good movie roles soon. Apparently she’s very sweet.

FOUR SEASONS CHECK INS, VANITY FAIR OSCARS PARTY NEWS, JUSTIN BIEBER AND SELENA GOMEZ
Teen fans with video phones crushing on popular Hollywood teens, Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez checking into the Four Seasons yesterday, before attending the Vanity Fair‘s Oscars post-party bash at the Sunset Towers in West Hollywood, bring a case of the chuckles.
It’s not like both these kids (Bieber and Gomez) don’t have their own Hollywood pads to crash in but I guess their parents thought it a good idea for their families to be based closer to the Oscars star action, where the hottest movie producers and directors in the world assembled on Hollywood. If we look at Natalie Portman‘s star trajectory, her Hollywood path was carefully plotted by her parents. Nothing was mishap, it was planned in the way show biz parents like Selena and Justin’s moms are planning their kids careers too.
Who knows, Bieber and Selena could be in the hottest movies being seen in 2012 as a direct result of going to one single party and checking into this hotel.
Hollywood wheels work like that, still. Who can forget how in ‘the recession years’ – Vanity Fair actually cancelled their Oscars bash, as they didn’t feel it was right to have one, just two years back. Madonna threw a big Hollywood bash instead that year, paid for out of her own pocket to keep the after-match joy flowing in Tinsel Town.,
This footage reminds us how nice it is to see that Condenast think the economy is back, to have an Oscars party again. At Vanity Fair’s legendary parties, it’s traditional for some kids to go, like Anna Paquin the year she won her Oscar, or Drew Barrymore going as a toddler or Steven Spielberg‘s daughter going too this year. Bieber and Gomez follow in this Hollywood traditional.
This year out of their generation of teens that young people of America likes, they are the lucky ones! Rock on! “Ms. Gomez” (her correct Hollywood name) wears a Grecian gown made by Dolce et Gabbana. Cute.

Nothing actually, except a single magazine cover and one magazine editors thoughts when it comes to cartoonizing a bunch of trending names. All names mentioned are actors of American entertainment or history’s pop cultural pages.
EXTERIOR/ HOLLYWOOD CAFE/ DAY – The actors act out a script at Starbucks in West Hollywood. He’s intense, she plays the misunderstood lover. Every now and again while delivering their lines, they gesture dramatically with their hands while looking around. You never know, if acting out in public, you just might get discovered. True Fact – In New Zealand, ‘I grew up’ reading my friends copies of Mad Magazine. This from MAD’s Editor-in-chief: on a Justin Bieber-Google choice of popularity (Zeitgeist) magazine cover. Subtext being, just do what Google tells you is popular. If you cover who Google recommends, then as a magazine editor the chances are you’ll make money – hence this magazine cover above.
The ed’s comments are: “That was probably the highlight of his career and being on the cover of MAD is the lowlight. We like to do what we call Zeitgeist covers. When we found that his movie was debuting just about the same time we would be coming with the issue, we knew he’d be all over the place. He’ll hate it and buy every copy, and it will be a sellout. Or, conversely, Bieber won’t even notice and we’ll probably sell three copies of the issue. Every time we put one of these young teen stars on the covers — this goes back to New Kids on the Block — we do get a ton of mail from prepubescent girls. The weird thing is I happened to be looking through old issues and we did a piece on Elvis, too. So that must be hardwired into the DNA of prepubescent girls. When somebody attacks, they do the same. The magazine has changed quite a bit. We take ads, which was a trade-off for the color. Certainly the humor has been ramped up as society has been ramped up. MAD just reflects the signs of the times. It’s a great time because there’re so many whack jobs for us to go after. The lunatic fringe is alive and well from the right to the left. There’s never a shortage of material.”

Words and symbols – a creative post: As I blog in Hollywood today, and look at the 13 leaves on this olive branch or the 13 arrows in the Eagles claws, or the 13 stars arranged in the Star of David formation at Hayim Solomon‘s request from US history - knowing that I love the no.12 much better personally, but still looking anyway at this Great Seal of the USA where 13 is a very significant number for America, (an 13 is a rugby football player’s jersey in New Zealand or ‘a baker’s dozen’ if cooking in the kitchen); the security guard sitting beside me who works for Disney and Selena Gomez is yakking (chatting) to a buddy over coffee.
His tales talk of Selena Gomez wanting security measures ramped up, because ‘supposedly’ she’s dating Justin Bieber now. Therefore he bemoans the fact that his job has just got more complicated. Only in Hollywood would your local cafe be filled with such cafe talk, or would teenagers control the life patterns, working patterns of fully grown, mature adults. This is a surreal town and kids that sell are taken seriously and matter. Spanning centuries now, then …
Contrasting or reflecting some philosophical thinkers of America and Aotearoa New Zealand’s thoughts and written words, a century or so after they wrote them is always a fun thing to do. You learn a lot about leadership in trying times of duress. Here’s a cross-cultural example of this spanning history from Hollywood today.

Their kupu (words) are like hidden cultural treasure.

DISNEY TURNS TO BRITNEY SPEARS AND JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE TO MENTOR CHILD STARS
True fact – America produces the most fun teenage experience in the world that is media savvy. In particular a vision of the teen of California. Creating such pictures of California youth is a big global industry industry the world loves.
This year, Selena Gomez was the third most popular name in entertainment in the US. Miley Cyrus no.7. What both stars have in common is that they were spun concurrently via Disney’s child-star making factory. Selena in direct response to Miley’s star phenomenon no one quite expected to occur as evidently as it did.
The U.K Daily News reports that Disney has appealed to Britney Spears & Justin Timberlake to help mentor its child stars and ex-stars–in sharing about making the transitions as famous kids to adults.
Good luck with that! There’s not really a “From fame to real life” manual–it’s up to every individual to navigate that for themselves–but I like the sentiment of mentoring. Sounds wise. The weird thing about Disney is that child actors aren’t really thought about while they make the lucrative bucks for Disney–their problems begins when the child star realizes how much Disney (or the world of Entertainment) has taken from their young lives in the fame trade-off. Is Disney doing damage control here? Looks like it.
However, Disney is the surest way to create child stars from America perceived to be credible in the world. Such is the enduring legacy of Walt Disney as a star brand.

Two of the world’s most popular teens this year Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez were snapped sharing a laugh in Miami. Along with Miley Cyrus and Taylor Lautner these teens in Google’s top ten names in the world of people most searched for on a search engine in 2010. Bieber and Gomez in the top three.
Both Gomez and Cyrus were spun into stars from Disney perhaps indicating the strength of the Mouse House to generate global stars. Singing teens is a key of the world’s brightest stars today.

Talking to Just Jared (via digital spy), Demi Lovato says Miley Cyrus is the sweetest friend in the biz to turn to for advice. Says Lovato:

SELENA GOMEZ 40th HOTTEST STAR IN HOLLYWOOD 2009
Selena Gomez is as talented as Miley Cyrus. She is Disney‘s number 2 princess with America’s youth audiences.
Where Miley can sight a show biz dad, and put on a country twang to more ‘be herself’ culturally as an American in Disney generated media, Gomez has not yet been afforded that privilege to truly be a Latina-American from Disney.
However, the numbers are in Gomez’s favor. 1 in 4 children in US kindergartens are Latino. Gomez’s platform as a recognized star of this audience base and most Americans will stand the young singer, actor, dancer in good steed. She is a triple threat.
Unicef acknowledged Selena Gomez’s importance in the world, giving Selena the same honor afforded Angelina Jolie, when they hand picked her to be the youngest Unicef Ambassador in history.

SHAKIRA’S MILITARY STOMP PERFORMANCE AMA’s 2009 ROCKS IN AMERICA
Pop star Shakira‘s performance at The American Music Awards, Sunday at the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles deserves a mention.
Military Janet Jackson Rhythm Nation choreography meets the Broadway feel of Stomp is what she rocked out with at the AMAs.
Not only was she uber hot, but her statement to the world with a team of all African American female dancers in her troupe was a pretty powerful statement in support of America’s leadership switch this year.
This girl is pro the future of America, but also the world as an international artist. Most of Shakira’s fan base are not in the US. Her anti-war message of Peace over bullets was also very cool mid performance. Whitney Houston and Bobbie Christina‘s pure enjoyment of Shakira’s performance and entertainment is priceless. Enjoy!

SELENA GOMEZ DOESN’T WATCH TWILIGHT FILMS EITHER
First Miley Cyrus dissed Twilight’s New Moon film, cast and crew by saying she doesn’t like vampires at all.
Now Selena Gomez, another Disney star has come out swinging too.
Says Gomez on the Bonnie Hunt show, rather sheepishly, “I don’t watch them. Sorry, I feel bad–even though I am a teenager.”
Gomez used to date New Moon star, Taylor Lautner for a bit, so she should be ashamed of herself today, raising the Disney flag in Hollywood to diss the non-Disney film. Jokes.
For Disney though, clearly it is box office war as they instruct their starlets to fire shots at the Summit Entertainment film. Interesting. Meow!

Disney Teen Queen, Selena Gomez has recently returned from a Unicef Ambassador stint to Ghana, Africa. Here’s what she :
“I got to meet teens, I got to meet children, I got to meet families,” Gomez said about the trip she went on with her mom and stepdad.
“It was completely life-changing and eye-opening, and when we came back we definitely had nothing to complain about.”
