BEYONCE KNOWLES ON A BALCONEY

It’s royal wedding build up time. The media quite like the Young Royals show in most tabloids and newspapers at this Kiwi minute.

Plenty of royals on balconies is what we’ll most probably get to see when a certain young couple tie the knot.

Here’s Beyonce Knowles shout out to Kate Middleton via the USA.

ROYAL WEDDING CAKE DEMOCRACY by PRINCE WILLIAM AND KATE MIDDLETON

The Sydney Morning Herald is doing way too much (again!) today running a fun story about Kate Middleton and Prince William opting to have two wedding cakes on their special day.

The first cake will be a traditional fruity cake, with white icing and white floral ornaments on it. The second wedding cake will be a family favorite of Prince Williams made of dark chocolate icing, crumbled tea biscuits and some other things.

Sounds like guests will get to choose their choice of wedding cake democratically on the day of the most watched televised event in world history, April 29th, when Will and Kate tie the knot.

I think I’d keep with the childhood favorite option too and go for the chocolate cake. What about you? Click on top pic to see some of the world’s finest cake makers in action.

The best cake’s of course are shared at privately owned beaches in the form of picnics with special friends. Maori people in particular love serving white slices of coconut cake after freshly seared entrees of beach fresh scallops kaimoana, on our beaches to guests with a squeeze of tahitian lime (just a hint mind), as a reminder that coastlines are like the edges of a cake, never to be eroded by over-eager guests.

Today though, the Prince could possibly be a slight bit hung-over. According to E News Online, via Claridge House spokespeople, it was believed that for the royal bachellor party celebrations, these mostly occurred on water. Whether the water was lakelands or coastal sea terrains, no one knows yet for sure.

The report states that “The 28-year-old and a princely posse of 20 friends spent the weekend racing motorboats, waterskiing and then going on a floating pub crawl before ending up at a country manor.” Sounds like a right royal blast. Creative.

Watch the clip, for a fun story. :)

KERI HILSON WILL PERFORM AT WRESTLEMANIA XXVII IN ATLANTA

This week we learned that Atlanta, Georgia has and is experiencing a massive migration of African-Americans heading south from cities like New York and the Mid-West. Economically, America is undergoing State-wide ‘populations engineering’ in such an economic climate. This is what we are witnessing in America occur.

In unrelated news, Grammy-nominated and multi-platinum recording artist Keri Hilson will perform “America the Beautiful” kicking-off WrestleMania XXVII live on pay-per-view Sunday, April 3 at the Georgia Dome in Atlanta.

BEYONCE DOES BLACKFACE AS A FELA KUTI OF NIGERIA HOMAGE, VIA L’OFFICIEL MAGAZINE

Beyonce Knowles has darkened her face with a “blackface” historical reference, as art in a photoshoot for L’Officiel Paris magazine’s 90th anniversary issue.

A statement issued by the magazine factually states that the entertainer’s latest artistic endeavor via this photo shoot is “a return to her African roots, as you can see on the picture, on which her face was voluntarily darkened.”

Her work is intended to be a tribute to the Nigerian musician of the Cool Cats group and human rights activist Fela Kuti, born of Abeokuta, Nigeria. Fela is the subject of a Broadway musical as well.

Like Beyonce’s Josephine Baker tribute of the past with her De Ja Vu performances in big shows of entertainment, like Fashion Rocks showcase shows, I love this artistic endeavor too. Hot!

WASHINGTON IS THE NAME BLACK PEOPLE IN THE US, MOST HAVE AS THEIR OWN

This is quite a fascinating read. The Associated Press’ Jesse Washington has been researching what the “blackest name in America is.” Apparently it’s the name of a US President. Here’s Jesse’s words on that.

“George Washington’s name is inseparable from America, and not only from the nation’s history. It identifies countless streets, buildings, mountains, bridges, monuments, cities — and people.

In a puzzling twist, most of these people are black. The 2000 U.S. Census counted 163,036 people with the surname Washington. Ninety percent of them were African-American, a far higher black percentage than for any other common name.

The story of how Washington became the “blackest name” begins with slavery and takes a sharp turn after the Civil War, when all blacks were allowed the dignity of a surname.

Even before Emancipation, many enslaved black people chose their own surnames to establish their identities.

Afterward, some historians theorize, large numbers of blacks chose the name Washington in the process of asserting their freedom.”

JENNIFER HUDSON’S ARETHA FRANKLIN TRIBUTE ALBUM AND A GRAMMY’S DUET WITH CHRISTINA ARGUILERA NEWS

Jennifer Hudson is a diva who when you see her perform live in concert, she can give you a case of the goose bumps because her vocal prowess is just like… well, off the richter scale! And I saw Jen before she ever got hit by a devastating family tragedy. She was amazing!

Hudson is rumoured to be teaming up with Christina Aguilera for an Aretha Franklin tribute at next week’s Grammy awards ceremony.

Today, the Academy Award winner revealed her cover of a new album I Remember Me. The artwork was snapped by Rihanna collaborator Anthony Mandler.

The album is believed to be influenced by the murder of three family members in a shooting and the birth of her son. “I’m excited about this album because it’s almost like a renewal for me, reflected through the chapters of my life,” says the diva via her website.

“My fans have been so loyal, I feel like they have been on this journey with me and I can’t wait for them to hear the new album.”

I Remember Me, set for release on March 22. Hudson shared her new single Where You At on Oprah today.

Definitely get this album. Her last album is still on my playlist. Always uplifting is our Jen!

THE NATIONAL BLACK THEATER OF HARLEM NEEDS SOME HERITAGE ARTS AND CULTURAL SUPPORT

Barbara Ann Teer, center foreground, founder of National Black Theater, with the cast of one of her productions in 1970, looks so awesome in this photograph. Barbara sits in darkness. You can’t see her. Because she needs our help and support.

When I read the accompanying story in the New York Times “A Harlem Cultural Hub Is Threatened by Debt” that goes with Barbara Teer’s pic, it just tears my heart out, when I read that American cultural theater arts needs some support in The Big Apple.

Basically, it’s like this, ‘because Hollywood makes so few African-American films each year’ the real stories from this community are told in theater, like The National Black Theater productions very important work.

In African-American stories, we learn about life lived outside of slavery. We learn of American life lived in Liberty. If we don’t support African-American theater, perhaps we are not valuing the spirit of Liberty enough, as that’s what their theater is a witness of, not only in the US, but the world. I love it!

Do something if you want to. Thanks.

THE SMILING FACES OF YOUNG HOLLYWOOD TODAY – 2.1.11

Here’s some bright, happy smiling faces of real kids who live in Hollywood today. Just in case you never see them enough from news outlets claiming to know what Hollywood is. Here’s a snap shot for ya.

Say Hola to African-American young people and new citizens via India who all live in Hollywood. As snapped at The Abbey with vintage artwork via Weidman Gallery, West Hollywood.

Smile America! We’re changing.

San Francisco also reports this trend of the changing face of America. As well as The New York Times article Black? White? Asian? More Young Americans Are Choosing ALL of the Above. Exciting stuff.

Obviously, media like Vanity Fair need to get a little bit more real in this modern age of American-fusion. Lol!

[To everyone depicted in these photos, thank you, this one's your Horiwood.Com shout out from your New Zealand guy, Maori Hollywood blogger. We made it!]

EGYPTIAN-AFRICAN RAMSES II TATTOOS, CALI-SCOTTISH COLLEGE FOOTBALL HAKAS AND MALIA’S MAORI KORU MOHAWK SPIRALS SKETCHED INTO YOUNG HOLLYWOOD’S HEADS TODAY BESIDE THE TORAH, WEST HOLLYWOOD – 1.26.11 @ 2.30pm

As I blog today in Hollywood as a Maori Kiwi farmer’s raised country kid son, there’s a lot going on to deal with. Nothing is as simple as those country days, in a Cosmopolitan City like Los Angeles.

I get texts on my phone asking for a meeting with a Romanian-American kid whose discovered paranormal activity in Laurel Canyon, beneath the house with a pyramid on top of it, currently on the market for 3.5 million, “why wouldn’t Tom Cruise buy it?’ is the gist of texting. Why I would even go, I don’t know?

I know that the founding Native American Indian tribes of California used to meet in the Laurel Canyon area each year, seasonally and theater would occur between the convergence of tribes there – where they would reenact a year’s worth of tribal stories for each other as tribes, in shared song and dance narratives.

Hollywood in a way, is an evolution, of this tradition, but technology (cinema, film, media, mobile telephony) is the preferred medium to convey this tradition in the world now from California. As I’ve already told this kid that, I don’t feel like going.

There’s always going to be paranormal activity in the Canyon, until Native American Indians are invited back to do what they always did on Hollywood Hills and Canyon landscapes, as people. It’s just what they do and should be allowed to do as a sign of genuine belief in the origins of freedom of expression of America’s founding fathers, mothers and their children. That’s where the concept of American family begins as a narrative in the USA, in a celebrated and ongoing healing process that should be honored and respected too for all of America with Native American Indians being a vital part of that.

I had suggested to the kid to meet with Indian tribes himself if he was so concerned about the increase of paranormal activity in Hollywod, to see if there was any interest in that and to meet with the Mayor of L.A too to get it going on. He had looked at me like I was a total spinner, (I have the same thought each day too at times, so that’s quite okay) but it’s certainly much better than entertaining ghosts in the canyon, I think. Far smarter.

Pyramid worship here of the rich and famous and Free Mason society types aside here, I think Indians have their place in Hollywood as people on this landscape that should be honored and respected as honoring the roots of a nation’s peace and human rights record and pathway forward. So that’s the end of the texting saga as I turn my phone off. Peace is the greatest gift of all in California. Least we get confused at to what robs America’s peace, we need to learn to turn our phones off sometimes to have it.

Beside me to the right, the blonde girl in the cowboy tartan red and black cowboy, all wool shirt (too hot for California actually), cut off denim shorts and black fishnet stockings talks the need of “boundary setting with her new boyfriend” to her ‘Personal Gay’ friend. He just nods at everything she says, like he’s a tamed poodle or something. What’s up with that brainless trend?

A Mexican Aztec fashion designer, with sharp cheekbones talks to investors in the cafe today about how far $100,000 investments could go, and where that would take them. He’s 50 with little Richard eyeliner Aztec eyes. A fierce statement in today’s Hollywood. He’s not big on ‘speaking the English,’ he’s like “You give me $100,000 and this is what you get for that.” Yet there’s no denying that he knows his stuff in the new wave of the fashion apparel business in California. He’s a modern merchant of Cali’s fashion world as perhaps best denoted by his leopard, tiger markings-fused silk printed gypsy-esque scarf worn over his Aztec Indian jewelry. The look in his eye, tells his investors, that he’s fearlessly forging ways forward in the current economy. Good for him! A discerning confident spirit.

He wears an old school biker leather jacket with the words L.O.S A.N.G.E.L.E.S in white leather down each black sleeve and plenty of jean jewelry chain accessories.

Beside and opposite me, Mandel an Orthodox brother studies up on the Torah on his laptop and my African-American brother, Jey Lawrence sits too. Jey’s dad researched in the Warren Beatty, Julie Christie and Goldie Hawn Hollywood-popular era of the 70′s, Jey’s family history. He mapped his families tribe back to the Southern Nile of Egypt, hence Jeys Egyptian key, eye, double spears, skin-shield tattoos. He is very Barack Obama-esque today (the contemporary inked version) and watches college football keeping up with the next generation of sporting talent. Of course being in Hollywood weird things happen all the time in good ways. My last Hollywood post was about the Key of Ramses II fused with the prophet Isaiah’s words. Then Jey sits right next to me, with a version of Ramses tattooed on his arm. His version does look like Obama’s face a bit, and we laugh about that, because it’s true.

In addition, Jey tells me that the Maori haka is a big trend in college football. Where football teams perform the haka (Maori war dance) before their football matches. What is even more awesome though is when the crowd of spectators respond and do it too. Jay says American footballers love Maori culture because it is an expression of warrior-hood and tribalness that defines community, that football represents here at community level. The Maori haka resonates with America’s belief of strong warrior communities.

I can’t argue with that. Maori culture and tino rangatiratanga (the spirit essence of the culture) is all about that. It does think of protecting everyone, and ensuring everyone remains strong warriors in community. The haka is a visual expression of this aesthetic in effect. The haka – when performed properly, is always spiritual. Jey loves it.

Jey has moved from personal fitness training to now doing hair. He says it’s way easier to manage. We talk the concept of ‘hair lockers.’ Where Jey points out the beautiful twenty-something blonde girls in the cafe and says most of these girls have weaves, or hair tracks on their scalps. I’m so dumb, I’m like “no way!”. He’s like, “yes, they all do. California is hair capitol of America.” When they get their hair done, their old hair they take off their heads and they save it. Hence all these girls have what is called a hair locker in their bedrooms at home.

I say, well, Hollywood American girls are sort of like Native American Indians, collecting hair in that scalping tradition way then. Jey says, “not a good example. But yes. You’re right. Half of Hollywood is like that.” We laugh. Servite Football team of California are Jey’s favorite college football team’s fans, he says do the Maori haka the fiercest. They’re also big on Scottish music too. Must check them out. Jey reminds me of my brother-in-laws Lou, once bro-in-law Matthew, Richard and Eddie who all play touch rugby football. Some internationally too. Jey most looks very similar to brotha Eddie who is half Maori of the Tainui Maori tribe and half Tongan of the South Pacific.

‘Don’t be a stranger,’ Jey says off to his next appointment. Dude is so Warren Beatty of Shampoo movie days in 1975 Oscar winning history, minus the attitude. We had a good conversation today, with his permission to share it with you. Yes, feel privileged.

On any given day you blog in a cafe in Los Angeles, such things go on all around you in the real Hollywood.

I love it.

Today Malia gets top billing (pictured above), with her Maori koru design aesthetic from Aotearoa-New Zealand etched into her Young Hollywood scalp. She’s all fierce, smart, beautiful like a skinnier version of Missy Elliott, the rapper; having biz meetings with a blonde guy from the U.K with a Cockney accent whose convincing Malia to sign with him as her photographer/ manager.

She is beautiful, confident, quietly resolute. As I ask to share her winning look back to the good people of Aotearoa-New Zealand where her I.D is inspired from, (and with you all) she smiles big, turns side on and says “Wurq it Mah-ree peoples of New Zeeeeeland.”

Like that. Let’s go America! :)

As a New Zealander, I am that American footballers and supporters do the Maori-Kiwi haka of New Zealand. Just get on a plane every now and again and head down to NZ to see it performed live every now and again, for reals from the source of culture, okay? :)

What a fun day. I feel like I hung out at Hollywood’s version of The White House – Hollywood coffee bar today. Thankfully Aotearoa, New Zealand is so in that picture too. Fun.

[Gosh, that was perhaps the longest blog post header written ever!]

Music today is laid back mellow, as I think about Hawaiian sun, South Pacific palm trees and beautiful Aotearoa beaches, while listening to the Zac Brown Band ‘s song Toes brought to US by 5 Gum, while thinking that I’ve already done our celebrity news today in this one post.

I can imagine my Maori-Samoan cousin Eileen Taogaga grooving to this at the Helensville pub today near the Kaipara, on a mom’s friday night off in the ‘big smoke’ of Helensville as good country Kiwi folk do in any tight knit rural community, with the best green grass in the world, far across the waters on opposite sides of the Pacific Ocean of Malibu as I blog, from The City of Angels today.

CALI BORN JEN OF AMERICAN APPAREL SAYS HI AND TALKS ROMANCE IN AN AGE OF INTERNET DATING – 1.24.11

Jen of American Apparel is a native born Angeleno who has also lived in New York. Jen likes California better. Must be the beautiful climate.

Her day was a little rough today. Jen’s dealing with that corporate email that was sent out on mass, with her name as one of the recipients that says: “Effective, immediately, no more commission.”

As that’s not what Jen signed up for when she took the job and she’s a smart girl who says she needs to pay her rent, and the new conditions won’t see her being able to do that any more. Jen’s not having it.

Good for you Jen! Good luck on the job hunting front from here.

Jen’s just started online dating. A big step for her. So we just talked through the perils of that. In my experience of that in L.A, it could tend to leave you empty (that’s a whole other novel – not really worth being published, at this point!).

Yet Jen and I both agree that it doesn’t really matter how you meet people, it’s more how you treat them and each other when you do meet. The California rule of “You pony up, I pony up, You pony up, I pony up” always should be observed in any good relationship, each day. If that relationship is not observed like a link in a jewelry chain for example, you’re not actually in a relationship. Jen was like “wow, that’s awesome. So true.”

Jen brings out every suppressed paternal instinct in me, whereby I just want to march into those corporate offices of American Apparel and give them a good talking to, or just intimate I could ‘slightly bruise’ the face of the last online boy who would ever contemplate breaking this sweet girl’s heart. You know, it can be a scary and insincere world in an age of online dating and Facebook culture. Yet, this is Jen’s reality today as a Cali girl making new opportunities in her L.A.

Once we discussed that the “pony up” aesthetic of relationship link building is established and going on day-by-day, I advise Jen that every American girl should ‘go black’ and throw in a wild card into their relationship mix every now and again- by taking a note from the musical diaries of American pop music royalty, Janet Jackson to provide a reality check. Namely, in the form of the question raised by Ms. Janet Jackson with her dance choreographer/ current reality TV star Paula Abdul, many years ago as expressed in this song below.

Jen is so sweet and cute, I want to put her in my pocket as a mini-Hobbit girl from New Zealand or something. Look at that open honest face. Adorable!

Thanks Jen!

GETTING RID OF KERRE WOODHAM’S MISS PIGGY COMPLEX WITH A NEW HOLLYWOOD HAIR STYLE

MY “TOO EASY TARGET” FUNNY THOUGHT FOR TODAY – If Kiwi commentator/ radio jock/ MC Kerre Woodham was a media-muppet for some paper gangsta politicians, she would definitely be, Miss Piggy of The Muppet Show. Because of this ‘uber funny comment today’ from Kerre the lazy not-always-funny smart *ss Wodham’: “we know how Hone feels about all things white. He probably puts chocolate milk in his tea.”

Here’s a good hair dresser for Ms. Woodham to get a makeover to, so she looks less like a one dimensionally-cultured muppet in her next life.

This humor post comes complete with Metallica jewelry contacts too, to give Ms Woodham a grounding sense of place, when remembering whose ground her piggish trotter hooves even walk on. It appears that Ms Woodham has amnesia.

Of course – that was meant as a joke in jest. Ha, Ha! Right? Kia ora Kerre Woodham.

While Kerre gets her hair did by Kenmoria Wilson, Kenmoria will happily pour hot chocolate into Kerre Woodham’s cup of tea herself, because in Los Angeles, Kenmoria is hot chocolate honey!

Why am I so embarrassed reading Kerre Woodham’s dumb-*ssed comments from L.A? Don’t get me wrong, I’m also embarrassed of Hone! Most days. So childish!

MORE IMPORTANTLY – WILL THE NEXT GENERATION OF KIWI COMICS, RADIO JOCKS, NEWSPAPER COLUMNISTS, MC’S ON MICRO-PHONES AT CHARITY EVENTS FROM AOTEAROA-NEW ZEALAND… PLEASE STAND UP! YOU’RE LOOKING VERY 1840′s RACIST WITH MISS PIGGY, OOPS… KERRE BLABBING AT THE MOUTH.

[Humor pic courtesy of Photo Bucket - for a good vomit at Kerre's exceptionally lazy and re-gurgitating stereotypes commentary]

I do like Kerre Woodham’s sense of humor most days though, a little bit better than Hone’s though as a rule. Just today, I didn’t.

KENMORIA WILSON DOES HAIR IN L.A AND METALLICA IS AN ISRAELI FASHION STORE ON MELROSE DOING HEAVY STREET JEWELRY

In Los Angeles, you meet the coolest people. Today I got flagged down by Kenmoria Wilson (a Mona Lisa Fashion Stylist) who is based at 360 Atelier Melrose. They’re the salon working late at night on celebrities weaves each day. The Rihanna neck stars tattooed on Kenmoria’s head are kinda poppin in a pop princess street-fashionista way, aren’t they?

Previously I was getting my hair cut by Princess Diana‘s hair stylist, now based in L.A from London – but after being persuaded so adeptly by Kenmoria – I’ve decided to switch it up and let the lovely K add hori hair and a hori head to her star-stylist mix of clients. This photo of Kenmoria, just starting her day. Cute.

Below – are images of ‘heavy jewelry’ at Israeli owned store Metallica on Melrose Ave. Like a tattoo, heavy jewelry offer a grounding sense of permanency in an age where people don’t feel like they have much. Jewelry is on the up in L.A. More and more people are being spotted with it again. Kinda hot really. Tusks are such a Scottish-Stewart-Cruickshank thing from centuries back… I guess this post is for Scotland then, today.

A COOKING SHOW RECIPE OF HOT CHOCOLATE GOODNESS – A MEAL FOR BRETT WHO LIVES UNDER A PALM TREE IN LOS ANGELES – 1.21.11

Photo Caption 1: A recipe is always a message of food created by someone for someone, before it is even cooked. When you see a worthy subject. Make, cook or prepare something for them. Sometimes, human life in America depends on the fact, that you will and that you do. On the day I met Brett, I discovered that he lived under a Palm Tree. He was so weak, he couldn’t sit up. I figured that getting Brett anything solid, would be too much work for him to manage – what to do? Step 1 – Get our your wallet.

Photo Caption 2: After consultation with my local Starbucks expert Phillip (pictured), his assessment was Brett would probably best need a hot chocolate. Step 2: With your wallet, pay for it. Then ask Phillip to make it with: Step 3: “add whipped cream.”

Photo Caption 3: Step 4: Sprinkle hot chocolate powder onto the cream.

Photo Caption 4: Reconsider who this is for. Step 5: Sprinkle more hot chocolate powder onto the cream.

Photo Caption 5: Again, reconsider who this is for. Step 6: Empty the entire sprinkle shaker of hot chocolate powder onto the whipped cream. (Sorry Starbucks!).

Step 7: Stir well.

Step 8: Smile and serve.

Step 9: Cheers!

Step 10: Repeat recipe each day.

[This story and photographs shared with the world with Brett's kind permission. Clearly, America needs our love.]

COMEDIAN CHARICE SHARES HER RACIST MACDONALDS WORKER STORIES WHEN SHE WAS 18

Meet Charice (black jacket – upper left of this photograph), who randomly turned on an impromptu comedy show, for anyone attracted to her friend’s laughter reacting to her humor over coffee, this afternoon in California.

Charice’s story time that ended 5 minutes ago was on the theme of “My First Job at MacDonalds when I was 18.” She recalled back-to-back stories of customers treating her like some ‘cotton picking slave.’ The humor came from what Charice would say back to these ignorant MacDonalds punters (customers). Charice is five generations Los Angeles born.

Living in Los Angeles – can be a wonderful experience. Such as moments of shared spontaneous culture in a show biz town, where to be an Angeleno means to share your comedic talents, regardless of how painful the content, in the form of live theater or a show. It’s just what L.A does effortlessly, like no other city I’ve ever lived in. Fun.

The most talented people in L.A are usually not on TV or in films. The beauty of Charice’s show today, was that she laughed the hardest at all the punchlines, making it okay for us all to laugh with her – at her expense. How generously sweet of her to give us this opportunity to enter into her cultural reality.

What a beautiful comedian Charice is. Not on Television, but so much more smarter and funnier naturally than someone, say like Chelsea Handler.

Maybe Chelsea should add Charice to her writing team or have Charice do a ten minute segment on her show once a week. That would make great TV – like real television that’s actually funny and relevant in Los Angeles – as President Obama talks about a need to fix up China’s human rights record today. I think Chelsea could learn to share more, don’t you? So Charice’s of the world that aren’t ‘black constructs’ but that are real talking real stuff that is funny can shine more.

Meanwhile, in the real world, Charice is fixing up America’s human rights short comings with her gift to entertain. What a winner! Thanks C. “I want to live in a REAL America” too. :)

WHEN GWEN STEFANI ATTENDED THE OSCARS AND TODAY’S CELEB NEWS – 1.20.11

Remember when Gwen Stefani attended the Oscars? –Vanity Fair classic photograph.

Does the Skins TV series on MTV, exploit kids in a pornographic way at the hand of TV producers? And why are children increasingly becoming more voyeured by an old order of America? I don’t like it. There’s an over-fixation on living forever, not rooted in a true spiritual sense of possibility. Kids get vampired. I know Chinese officials are mad about dating teenagers – but why show cultural match in this way to China with such TV shows – making this kind of entertainment okay at the expense of American teens? Not cool.

OUR BLATINO BROTHAS – WEST HOLLYWOOD – 1.16.11

Shouting out to our Latino brothers of California on Horiwood.Com – Hollywood based entertainment website. These gents are pictured here getting their social buzz action at The Abbey in West Hollywood.

Beyond any media constructs we may often see televised from California, these are the real faces of Young Hollywood today. If we are honest with ourselves, we serve their America here in Cali. Our relevance as people living today to lead and create a world that is relevant to them all depends on our own humility of inclusion vs exclusive attitudes. Although I don’t want to be a fossil, or a relic of the past, pretending I’m with it in America – when I’m not, I still don’t know what I can do to be more cross-culturally savvy and real with our blatino bros.

But – you know – it starts with saying “Kia Ora” (that’s hello in hori-eze) and asking them straight up. How do you see America in the future and are you happy with the way it is now? On their turf, not your own. And when you do that–wow–these guys could out-fierce the Republican Party’s boring policies in an “i-Pod re-shuffle” nano-second, if media held the mic up to them, every once and a while. They’re the coolest. So real.

On that note – “let’s get tacos!” as the cast of Glee would readily say. :)

And to the lads in this pic – thanks for taking the time to update my ignorant hori *ss as to which way America is really heading. Muchos gracios!

Oh and in terms of entertainment gate keeping. I know Jersey Shore are hit reality TV stars right now with mega spin off TV series for MTV–but you could put a camera on any one of these guys and they’d make funny TV if given the chance. They are nothing like Kanye West but their America is a lot more grounded in what they want and where they want to head. Community means everything to these guys, more so than many politicians.

Mic them. LOUDER!

HOLA AMERICA – PUT YO AFROS UP! 1-16-11

MC Glass The Tramp of East Los Angeles with Horiwood of Aotearoa-New Zealand has a message for America The Beautiful today.

It is – “Put yo’ afros up!

Word! Let’s go America!!! The morning after The Golden Globes - Los Angeles knows what day this is today. This is a day, like no other day and we celebrate this significant and momentus day, even more than we celebrate the Golden Globes or any awards show.

[Motifs - White gold and silver chains on purple cotton. And Chinese cream silk with tassels on MBX black velvet military tuxedo jacket, on Angeleno, black cotton tee. Standing on Abbey Stone - West Hollywood.]

On this day we sing of crossing the Jordan. We sing of deliverance from Egypt. We sing of Civil Rights. We sing of Liberty. We sing of restoration of a nation’s dignity and humanity. We sing of equality. We sing of goodness overcoming greed. We sing of the power of truth in oratory breaking piercing the bonds of slavery. We sing of hatred’s blindness falling off like scales that covered a nation’s eyes. We sing of free women and free men. We sing of brothers and sisters fully acknowledged as family. We sing of history being rewritten. We sing of past systems being overthrown. We sing of looking through histories glass and learning from a history of shame and vowing never to repeat it again towards any other people in America or the world. We sing of reordering honor systems. We sing of reordered values. We sing of the last being first. We sing of forgiveness of lynchings past. We sing of freedom from being raped, of overcoming the oppression of sexual slavery and servitude. We sing of owning our own bodies and God-given sexuality. We sing of freedom and forgiveness and Love’s fullness washing a nation’s past like the ocean. We sing of being able to sleep with Peace in our hearts and night. We sing of miracles happening. We sing of new gatekeepers, new leaders, new opportunities. We sing of a First Lady of America’s people. We sing of an American Queen’s history and what her America means and stands for. We sing of trampling racism. We sing of jazz, soul, blues, hip hop and diverse American art forms of being, living, expressing, laughing, swaying, moving, sounding, speaking and entertaining in all their free floetry forms of African-American freedom. On this day – like any other day – we put our once cotton picking afros up and we remember, celebrate and honor who actually built this country. With pride, triumph and dignity we stand alongside our black brothas/ brothaz and sistas/ sistaz as equals and we say “we too are proudly black, because you are, we are.” We put our afros up and we honor the prophesy and belief of conviction, that all men are created equal and that their labor is of equal value. We stand in an eternal commitmen to uproot, unmasked entrenched laws and any systems of governance that oppress others and strip fellow human beings of their dignity. We vow to not support anyone or anything that oppresses others for capitol gain over the life and value of fellow citizens and human beings of the world. We sing of confidence that our women and daughters are safe. We sing of confidence of bringing sons into this world who are safe in our neighborhoods at night.

We put our afros up, learning from the past in America, South Africa, England, Africa, France’s histories and all of their colonies. Got yours up? Good. Keep it up, for the rest of your life and teach your children and their children and grandchildren what an afro means and how to treat people right who have one, and how to respond and behave when they see one in America’s precious and beautiful, global future of relevance.

Let’s go America and let’s go Pacific Islands, Polynesian and Maori Peoples of Aotearoa-New Zealand too!
