Andrew Dominik has cast Naomi Watts in the lead of his Blonde biopic of the life of Marilyn Monroe. Based on this pic–that’s a darn good casting effort.
The Wellington/ Wellywood born director will begin filming the flick in January 2011.

According to Michael K of New York City, ( via Variety, via USA Today) everyone’s fantasy ‘bad boy’ of surburban middle-aged American male life, Charlie Sheen [aka Estevez], is pocketing nearly $2 million per episode for the sometimes funny, not funny at all TV Show Two and a Half Men. (ie: the ‘white man’s’ TV take out version of a Tiger Woods character as a divorced bloke).
This makes Charlie the highest paid actor in television. Despite his littany of upcoming court appearances (for various misdemeanors of late) Charlie says, “To put a fitting end on the 2 1/2 months of whirlwind speculation, I’m looking forward to returning to my CBS home on Monday nights.”
Congratulations Charlie Sheen. Who needs to be in film again, when you’re pocketing that much money–to amuse the men of America each week on the telly.

Here’s Twilight‘s Kristen Stewart on how she manages the paparazzi within the fame game.
After Robert Pattinson said: ”I don’t know if this is the actual reason why, but we have gotten better at hiding over the last year,”
Says Young Hollywood’s leading actress of the 2010′s: “That’s totally the reason,” Stewart concurs. “They just make up a story to go along with the pictures. If they never get the picture, there’s no story. We are just good hiders now.”
How these kids do it, is quite amazing really. The pressure to look good from every angle at all times–with fake headlines, captions and storylines running over your pics and tabloids profiting from it all–must take its toll.
[Stuart is such a Hollywood icon, that Elle Magazine takes pictures of her, and then blows them up, to photograph the picture--mise en scene en scene in action. Or according to French theorist Jacques Derrida... she is a "desconstruction of a deconstructed simulacrum." When a star (regardless of age) can play with their image this well... Angelina Jolie has trained this tigeress cub very well. Subtext--Kristen Stewart is Hollywood pop cultural art].

Miley Cyrus will follow in the footsteps of pop pioneers, Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Lady Gaga and take the stage at G-A-Y, London, to promote her new album Can’t Be Tamed on June 3rd.
Miley was last spotted in LA at H.Wood (the club, not this blog) celebrating the end of her successful Hannah Montana TV series.
The children’s series was like the Disney nest, that incubated and hatched this American song bird of pop, until she found her own inner wings. Reports Current Movie Reviews (so much more eloquently than myself)…
“Last night after finishing taping of the last Hannah Montana episode, Miley Cyrus and her co-stars Emily Osment, Jason Earles and Romi Dames had a G-rated wrap party at h.wood nightclub. Miley reportedly danced (no lap dances this time!) with Will Smith’s kids Trey Smith and Jaden Smith.’ Kung fu/ Hollywood hip hop royalty! Nice.
“Miley looked so happy when the DJ played Party in the USA– a source told E! Online. “When the hit came on, she sang to her song and danced through the crowd.”
A nice show from Miley, who lives in and owns her own home. What a sport. :)

Robert James Dio frontman of Black Sabbath and Dio has passed away, aged 67. His widow Wendi Dio posted this on his website:
“Today my heart is broken, Ronnie passed away at 7:45am 16th May. Many, many friends and family were able to say their private good-byes before he peacefully passed away. Ronnie knew how much he was loved by all. We so appreciate the love and support that you have all given us. Please give us a few days of privacy to deal with this terrible loss. Please know he loved you all and his music will live on forever. – Wendy Dio”

Russell Crowe –a current box office star of the World, with Ridley Scott‘s Robin Hood being the number 1 movie globally– outside of US movie territories is just… such a Maori, with his love of singing in a roopu (group) of friends.
It’s just what Maori do. We sing, to celebrate life.
Here’s Russ with his “Merry Men” consisting of Kevin Durand, Scott Grimes and Alan Doyle singing a little waiata (song) on the Spanish Steps in Rome.
Though culturally, Russ should perhaps really be singing Ten Guitairs by Julio Iglesias at this momentus moment, because at any backyard bbq in both New Zealand and Australia where horis are gathered–Ten Guitairs is viewed as the Unofficial Maori National Anthem of the World, to sing with your merry friends. I kid you not.
Needless to say, the song’s “I have a band of men and all they do is play for me” lyrics are very Merry Men friendly too for a star line up of successful friends to sing over a heine. But anyways, here’s some hori bros, singing their waiata for you–just celebrating life. Ang again, Russell Crowe is just too real, and too darn funny! When you’re aware of how he started life… you’d know that an Oscar and fame hasn’t changed him much and you can’t help but love him.

No. Kim Kardashian did not become Miss USA this weekend.
Rima Fakih of Dearborn, Mich., 24 was crowned Miss USA 2010 at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas Strip after swimsuit, evening gown and interview competitions. Rima had recovered to take the title after almost stumbling in her evening gown.
When quizzed about winning the crown, she said, “Ask me after I’ve had a pizza.”
Funny girls are always the prettiest of all. My mullahs on Rima for the global crown.

Although border control is definitely an issue in America, it has to be said too that the future of America, beyond our own temporal view of what America is ‘perceived’ to be… depends on 25% of these American children feeling loved and secure.
Why should they hide who they are or feel ashamed? All American children deserve to grow up feeling loved. So… Let’s go Tribe Gaga. :)
Alejandro currently sits at #17 on the music charts the other side of the world in New Zealand… in a nation that at the last census defined its population as consisting of only 34,743 Middle Eastern, Latin American or African residents.
In the nation’s capitol, salsa dancing is one of the hottest cultural activities–one can participate in, perhaps indicating that Latin culture is the next big trend on the horizon.
