FASHIONABLE FAMILY: GISELE, TOM AND BENJAMIN BRADY

In New York, Gisele proves her versatility as an amazing mother to Benjamin Brady today and a glamorous fashion entrepreneur and wife of football great Tom Brady–as the couple strutted the red carpet last night in New York City dressed in Alexander Wang. Too gorgey!

VIDEO: GLEE’S LEA MICHELE ON ELLEN

Cutie pie, Lea Michele of Glee appeared on Ellen to say that she has dreams to transition from small screen to Broadway’s stage. It sounds like a good idea, as the self-confessed bad driver in LA, can always catch the train to get to work when working in the Big Apple on Broadway’s golden stage.

Stars with imperfections are so much more relatable. A nice share from Lea.

ALICE IN WONDERLAND IN 3D BUMPS HOBBITS AND LANDS IN BOX OFFICE’S TEN BIGGEST FILMS OF ALL TIME

According to The Hollywood Insider, Tim Burton‘s 7th filmmaking collaboration effort with Johnny Depp has proven to be box office gold for the history books. Alice in Wonderland in 3D has surpassed Sir Peter Jackson‘s film Lord of The Rings: The Two Towers this morning taking $928.9 million to date, with Jackson’s box office tally from 2002, being $925.3 million.

Something has to be said about the amazing $1 billion generating movie lads of Hollywood like Tim Burton, Sir Peter and James Cameron. They’re incredible. Congrats to Tim Burton, cast and crew. 3D is the future of box office–and expect Sir Peter Jackson to reply in  distribtion and with a multicultural cast as protagonists that has some Maori and Pacific Island hobbits in its stellar line up, from home.

It’s time. There’s a lot to look forward to at the box office. But back to Alice in 3D. From Tim Burton and Johnny Depp we learn that long term collaborative artistic partnerships do pay off. Loyalty in Hollywood pays off! I love it! That more than anything is tres impressive in this good news story today for Hollywood’s box office. Let’s go LA and New Zealand in 3D movie ticket sales. :)

In the interim, for passionate fans and enthusiasts of New Zealand’s Cinematic magic, Maori Hollywood King, Cliff Curtis holds the flag for Kiwis in 3D films in his upcoming, history making role in M. Night Shyamalan‘s upcoming 3D film, The Last Airbender. The next hot 3D action movie ticket.

QUOTE OF THE DAY: SANDRA BULLOCK ON MOTHERING

The title of this post is not to be confused with Mother Load –the bar in West Hollywood, where everyone gets mothered singing to Karaoke… but has everything to do with ‘Mothering’ according to Oscar winner Sandra Bullock.

According to IMDB news Sandra, the occasional actress the last six years, sees mothering as more important than movie making these days. Says the actress: “

“All I know is that I want to be able to enjoy being a mom. Doing all the things moms get to do, outside in the sun, in the world. The career will have to wait for a bit. I don’t want to step into that world until I can find out what room I left my armour in. You need tough skin to be in this business. I don’t have tough skin right now and I don’t want it.”

How sweet! And with a baby son as beautiful as Louis Bardo Bullock, I think Sandy’s made the right choice.

iPAD SELLS FIRST MILLION UNITS IN JUST 28 DAYS

Wow… according to : ‘CUPERTINO, Calif., – Apple Inc. said Monday that is has sold 1 million of its new iPad tablet computers in the month after its launch, meaning it’s been selling more than twice as fast as the iPhone did when it was new.’

That’s pretty amazing. People like to touch. Obviously. And in only 28 days on the market, that’s pretty incredible. As a result these sales were reflected in the stock market with Apple shares rising from $5.26, or 2 percent, to close at $266.35 Monday.

Great News for Steve Jobs and Team Apple, with Time Magazine saying this of Jobs’ selection into its 100 Most Influential People of 2010. Words by Jeff Koons : “

Leonardo DiCaprio‘s Israeli supermodel leading lady, Bar Refaeli asks the question: What’s in a rainbow? for V Magazine‘s Summer scorcher issue.

According to Bar–it is Hawaii–where this stunning photograph was shot in the coco-locious, Pineapple state of the U.S.A. Love it.

SANDRA BULLOCK’S BABY ISSUE FOR PEOPLE MAGAZINE IS A FAME MONSTER

Sandra Bullock continues her invisible fame monstering ways, long after she cluthched her Oscars Award, months ago now.

According to Pop Eater, not only did Sandra’s surprise and long awaited cover story, of “I ditched my porn star producing Hugh Hefner wannabe faux husband” and “I’m a proud parent of a beautiful adopted baby boy” bump Julia Roberts from top cover position–but Sandra’s baby story has outsold more than Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie‘s twins story of 2008.

According to a source of the mag, “Sandra’s cover has been on newsstands for a week and it has already sold over 2.7 million copies,” a magazine insider told me, citing early sales estimates for the issue. “That’s only 100,000 less than the 2.8 million copies the magazine sold when Angelina’s twins graced the cover — and a half-million more copies than the June 2006 issue with exclusive baby pictures of Brad and Angelina’s first daughter, Shiloh, which moved 2.2 million newsstand copies.”

What we learn from Sandra is: a) it pays to cast a loser as your fake husband sometimes (I say that with love, because any woman knows when her husband is having one affair… after a while, let alone affairs with an entire haram of wannabe porn stars–no one is that naive. b) it pays to take a long vacation and come back into the fame game with a strategy and relentless headline-garnering game plan. c) always hire an Octogenarian actress (Betty White) as your mouth piece and unofficial publicist… because no one’s going to question what they say about you–clever PR. d) Anything that closes the divide between black people and white is going to be white hot, as Sandra demonstrates in her recent film and life’s choices–kuros for that! e) invisibility is a skill that many A-List celebrities could learn off Sandra, to garner A-List news. She’s a Hollywood magician!

And unlike Jolie, apparently Sandra has the #1 People Magazine of all time, just from being a “single mother.” Let’s face it, with heat like this… it’s between Lady Gaga and Sandy B for the big storylines now of entertainment–as both leading American ladies of music and film (respectively) demonstrate the art of fame monstering their celebrity compeitors and peers–like we’ve never seen before. Incredible. Congrats Sandy B, for making history in tabloid sales.

GERMAN BASKETBALL: MICHAEL K COVERS JUSTIN BIEBER INTERVIEW IN NEW ZEALAND

True fact time: The German dollar is the strongest in the world. Justin Bieber doesn’t seem to know this, yet.

The thing I love about blogging and being a part of a blogging community of people much more talented than myself at celebrity blogging–is that someone from New York City, is going to do a funny New Zealand story, that you read about in Hollywood.

That person is Michael K of DListed.Com who did a cute story about Justin Bieber denying that his name means “basketball” in German–when asked by an interviewer in New Zealand. Justin said he didn’t know if that was the case, by saying “we don’t say that in America.”

First up, in America we need to say the words “let’s all make like Germany” a bit more often than we do to strengthen the U.S economy. Secondly, basketball is President Obama’s favorite sport–so Justin should own any connection to a b-ball that he can. Thirdly, Justin is from Canada and not America, but the royal “we” was cute. Fourthly–there’s nothing wrong with having a German last name… this kid should own it and be proud. Fifthly–does Justin even realize how kind-hearted it is for a grown New Zealand rugby football-following man in his 20′s to even wear a Justin Bieber tee shirt?

Alright… this kid needs a father asap, to teach him a thing or ten about the world. And I think Michael K would be the perfect man for that job!

Jokes aside, isn’t it amazing that Justin has the #1 album in both America and Canada? Incredible.

According to the Toronoto Sun, Justin is the big draw performer, along with Katy Perry at the upcoming Much Music Awards, where Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Sean Diddy Combs will present awards and Christina Arguilera will be performing live. Hot! And, the incomparable Miley Cyrus will be hosting. Good to see Tom Cruise, father of three doing the Awards Show circuit again.

MEGAN FOX FRONTS ON THE SET OF TRANSFORMERS 3

The delightful and slightly annoying Megan Fox was spotted on the set of Transformers 3 yesterday in Los Angeles. Megan also recently was named 2nd most beautiful woman in the world, according to FHM’s rather racist 100 Most Beautiful Women List. A spot she perhaps deserves being new blood in Hollywood.

Megan has evolved light years on the celebrity ladder since Transformers 2 –what a Hollywood legend in the making.

ARE YOU READY FOR TRUE BLOOD, THE COMIC BOOK?

Yes. True Blood has become pop culture. Literally! Pulp fiction pop. Here’s the comic book cover. I love the way Anna Paquin‘s character Sookie Stackhouse looks more like Angelina Jolie than Paquin–I mean those lips are ngutu Maori girls’ Jolie-esque lips, not pencil-thin white Kiwi girls lips… and I love it!

And there is just no stopping True Blood. Alan Ball‘s cast are too hot! Here they come… for Season 3.

CHRISTINA HENDRICK’S CURVES AT COSTUME INSTITUTE GALA AT METROPOLITAN MUSEUM OF MODERN ART

Alright… the whole point of the Costume Institute Gala at the Emtropolitan Museum of Modern Art is fashion, fashion, fashion.

However, when Christina Hendricks turns up on the red carpet–she high jacks the entire show, just with her curves alone.

Ridiculous! And this is why we all love this Mad Men star. She turns out a great red carpet show. Too funny!

MUSIC VIDEO FEMINISM: BEYONCE’S WHY DON’T YOU LOVE ME?

~the personal is always political–feminist axiom~

Beyonce Knowles recently confessed that she has put her Sasha Fierce alter ego to rest, as she no longer has a need for her.

However in looking at her new music video for her song Why Don’t You Love Me, the Queen Bee of Quadruple US entertainment (singer, dancer, actor, magazine cover-worthy supermodel of America) killing Sasha off is proving to be a little tougher than Beyonce thought.

In this comical take on a 1950s housewive–shades of Sasha still come through, with Beyonce’s image transitioning into the role of homemaker and the good wife, waiting at home tending the house. Of course, Beyonce’s take on it is all telephone angst, smudged teary mascara eyes, dirty martinis, burnt dinners and  plenty of her trademark booty shaking.

She sends a message in this video–a woman’s lot was tough back in those days–and at the same time, women still predominantly keep the home in America today. A nice video. Low budget enough to be recession relatable–while still showing this American superstar–holding her own, without a single secondary character featuring except her alter egos competing in a domestic setting.

A burnt dinner over a dirty martini has always been a feminist statement. Especially in the 50′s and 60′s. Love it.

MOVIE STILL: ROBERT PATTINSON for BEL AMI

Twilight superstar, Robert Pattinson‘s first movie still from Bel Ami the movie has arrived.

Because Robert is a very grounded UK lad, I can see why this film would appeal to him. The movie provides a very good commentary of his own life–where Pattinson has found himself catapulted into the fame game of celebrity.

Bel Ami stars the amazing, Uma Thurman (Kill Bill and Pulp Fiction fame) and Christina Ricci (Monster) in a plotline that goes a little like this: ‘Directed by Declan Donnellan and Nick Ormerod, the film is an erotically charged story of ambition, power and seduction. Georges Duroy (Robert Pattinson), travels through 1890s Paris, from cockroach ridden garrets to opulent salons, using his wits and powers of seduction to rise from poverty to wealth, from a prostitute’s embrace to passionate trysts with wealthy beauties, in a world where politics and media jostle for influence, where sex is power and celebrity an obsession.’

This movie sounds riveting already. If you are over 18 that is. Nice to see a good period film being made and with such a good cast. As Uma was originally in Dangerous Liaisons –this film sounds like the DL for the 2010s decade.

LYNN REDGRAVE’S CHILDREN’S STATEMENT ON HER PASSING

Actress Lynn Redgrave lost her battle with breast cancer recently, aged 67. Here’s what her three children have to say in a joint statement as reported by the UK Telegraph. I know that as a blogger I’m supposed to write original content–and change stories around to be at least 50% mine–by reordering the facts–but this article was done so beautifully, I’m going to let Lynn be remembered in the way that the UK Telegraph wanted. What an amazing woman, a talented actress–who certainly had a very interesting life. Story follows:

‘The actress, the younger sister of Vanessa Redgrave, was at home in Connecticut on Sunday night with her three children Ben, Pema and Annabel around her.

They issued a joint statement through her publicist Rick Miramontez which read: “Our beloved mother Lynn Rachel passed away peacefully after a seven year journey with breast cancer.

“She lived, loved and worked harder than ever before. The endless memories she created as a mother, grandmother, writer, actor and friend will sustain us for the rest of our lives. Our entire family asks for privacy through this difficult time.”

Redgrave’s career spanned four decades, and she was nominated for two Oscars, three Tony awards, two Emmys and a Grammy.  Read the rest of this entry »

TRUE BEAUTY IS MALALAI JOYA – FIGHTING OPPRESSION IN AFGHANISTAN

Malalai Joya may never make FHM‘s list of 100 Most Beautiful Women in the World for 2010, but this woman is truly beautiful in every which way. So, thank goodness for Time Magazine here in the US.

This woman is truly beautiful. Says Ayaan Hirsi Ali of how inspiring Joya is as one of the most influential leaders in the World:

“To be a woman growing up in Afghanistan under the Taliban and to survive is in itself a major feat. To be so lucky as to become literate in a place where girls are shrouded and denied even fresh air is close to a miracle. To start underground schools and educate girls under the noses of turbaned, self-appointed defenders of virtue and forbidders of vice is truly extraordinary.
