17,000 HECTARES OF NEW ZEALAND LAND ARE BOUGHT BY 3 AMERICAN-DWELLING PEOPLE AND FRIENDS

One pic. One story. One businessman, Graeme Hart, sells 17,000 hectares of New Zealand whenua (land) to 3 American-dwelling buyers (unnamed). The buyers have Saudi, Denmark and Liechtenstein backing. The land is located in the central North Island of Aotearoa New Zealand. That story can be read here. Score.

Sometimes buying New Zealand land involves special land clauses. If the sensitive land includes special land (foreshore, seabed, riverbed or lakebed) buyers are best to check. This one, looks clean cut. I wonder who the new land owners are? :)

Gosh, I better ring the local barber here in the US to book a haircut. It’s time for this Kiwi to get shorn, again, with well oiled scissors made of the finest mineral elements. :)

LEZA CORBAN SINGS US THROUGH TODAY’S MIDDLE EAST OIL NEWS AND TEN POPULAR NEWS BITES – 2.25.11

Leza Corban is a songstress who is a master at jazz singing. She can sing anything though. Click on above pic to hear Corban sing. Leza also has worked for many other recording artists, including The Strawpeople and Debbie Harwood. Here’s a classic Kiwi lounge tune called Scared of Flying. It’s what we listen to, in our down time with gorgeous beach and rural views on weekends.

In World news via the New York Times, a big budget Hollywood movie’s wardrobe department could not have found better distressed denim jeans (made in Los Angeles) to put on Libyan rebels, photographed here rather fashionably defying Qaddafi troops at Tripolis border in this pic with rockets and guns. If you’re going to die, you may as well look good, right? This photo is a bit odd, actually. Very fashionable rebel lads, I must say.

Of course, Colonel Kadafi’s latest appearance has again, for the fourth decade running now, managed to adjust global economies and push the price of oil up. How does he manage to do that by being a grumpy grandad, presented to Western Media to explain oil price hikes. Because he’s a ‘foreign face’ in the “West’ we just excuse it as ‘crazy Middle East behavior.’ We shouldn’t, when he’s acting for others. But that has been his gig for forty years now. Pretty much.

The US is further along in the big disappearing act in Afghanistan now with troops being withdrawn more and more – while the NY Post floats the rather naive journalistic concept of the USA picking “the winners of the Mid East’s new line up.” The cheek! It was always going to be the Monarch nations who were the winners. But they do make Presidents of nations look like puppets of Monarchy, in this trade off of wealth acquisition (oil hikes) for giving their people ‘democracy’ Western style. They cheapen the political world with these antics. Gotta love the front page of The Times today. It’s a little rich. Very ‘Wall Street’ is the tone of the article who are some of the most oil addicted/ dependent people in the world (like many of us as well), with how this news effects stock market bearings and outcomes.

In particular, this is the verbage penned by Helene Cooper on the matter of whose winning via the Mid East oil/ ‘revolution’ show – “As the Obama administration grapples with a cascade of uprisings in the Middle East, it has come to a stark recognition: the region’s monarchs are likely to survive; its presidents are more likely to fall.

Helene continues – “In the rapidly changing map that stretches from Morocco to Iran, two presidents have already tumbled: Hosni Mubarak of Egypt and Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali of Tunisia. Administration officials said they believe that Yemen’s authoritarian president, Ali Abdullah Saleh, is in an increasingly tenuous position.

Yet in Bahrain, King Hamad bin Isa al-Khalifa has so far managed to weather a surge of unrest, winning American support, even though his security forces were brutal in their crackdown of protesters. Officials believe that King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia is also unlikely to be dethroned, while the emirs of the Persian Gulf have so far escaped unrest. Even in Jordan, where serious protests erupted, King Abdullah II has maneuvered deftly to stay in power, though he still has to contend with a restive Palestinian population.”

Monarchs sit pretty and all the rest is distraction, pretty much.

The US however talks imposing ‘unilateral sanctions to deter Libya’ while the other oil family, The Bushes of Texas with good Saudi ties, cancels a scheduled public appearance because ‘appearing with Julian Assange of Wikileaks together at the same venue is the reason given for the cancelled speaking gig.’ Fair enough, but Aussie’s aren’t that scary. Or are they? A Saudi student in Texas is arraigned and arrested in a bomb plot at the exact same time. Bloggers apparently love talking about this. Why, I don’t know!

The people of Bahrain want more changes. Is their internet too slow? This is ridiculous! :)

And, The Discovery space shuttle heads into Orbit for the last time. Apparently. Here’s ten posts we’re sharing as pop culture in this moment, on the build up to Helena Ataya of Aotearoa New Zealand’s centenary celebrations, right here from the City of Angels. Enjoy.

SHARING OIL AND STEEL TAKINGS WITH EGYPTS POOR MORE – LINDSAY LOHAN’S TWITTER PRAYERS ARE HEARD – EGYPT SAYS THERE IS NO BREAK IN THE PEACE TREATY WITH ISRAEL – WOOT!

Humor – It looks like have been heard and answered already.

Egypt remains committed to a renewed peace treaty with Israel. Good news today.

Now – how can Israel and Israel friendly people of the world support peace keeping Egypt to help with the 20% (16 million) of all Egyptians who live below the ‘pita-bread’ line in poverty.

Should we apply some pressure, to these peoples very wealthy Saudi cousins then to open up the coffers and share the spoils of oil and steel’s sky rocketing sales as noted on the stock market in the last two weeks (as a result of the Egypt ‘crises’ pushing oil prices up, more?) Jk! :)

But seriously, if we are to really consider the plight of Egyptian people forward – these are the kinds of discussions that need to be had in the world – not OMG! Twitter and Facebook is their ‘answer’ to give Egyptians youthful population “True Democracy.” I mean puh-leaze! No one’s that naive!

Gosh I write this post about Saudi Arabia’s wealthy helping poor of the world more, while drinking a BUSHel of coffee via Morocco right here in Hollywood, California America’s fine Starbucks today. How ironic is that? If you care for Egypt’s youth – tweet this post Egypt’s way. ;)

CLEAN DRINKING WATER FOR ALL

1 Fact: 1 billion people do not have clean drinking water. Where: Africa and India are most affected.

The threat: More people are lost in the world through this situation than war.

The solution: We can make a difference through UNICEF Tap Project. If you want to, please do.

True fact 2: For as little as $10, one person can have clean drinking water for a lifetime.

That’s like a beer at a Hollywood club with the tip. Amazing aye! Act. Bump this post on too. Let’s flow. :)

WIKILEAKS DOCS ON POLITICAL LEADERS ASSESSMENTS BY THE US, AND THE SAUDI KING GIVES OBAMA A GLOWING REVIEW AS PRESIDENT

[U.S. President Barack Obama (L) shakes hands with Saudi King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz after being presented King Abdul Aziz Order of Merit in Riyadh, capital of Saudi Arabia, June 3, 2009. (Xinhua Photo)]

There are no perfect people, or perfect leaders.

Just people learning to lead as they go along.

The Huffington Post is running Wikileaks docs today. The HuffPo quotes the New York Times, with these political leaders assessments and notes of other world leaders. Again, none of these statement’s have been officially confirmed via the White House press secreatary yet as being true. Here’s some of that:

The cables also provide frank assessments of foreign leaders:

Russia’s president Dmitry Medvedev “plays Robin to Putin’s Batman.”

French president Nicholas Sarkozy displayed a “thin-skinned and authoritarian personal style.”

Italian prime minister Silvio Berlusconi is described as “feckless, vain, and ineffective as a modern European leader.”

Hamid Karzai, is “an extremely weak man who did not listen to facts but was instead easily swayed by anyone who came to report even the most bizarre stories or plots against him.”

At least one cable provides an assessment of President Obama.

“Thank God for bringing Obama to the presidency,” Saudi Arabia’s King Abdulluh told White House counterterrorism adviser John Brennan in March 2009. Obama’s victory has created “great hope” in the Muslim world, he continued. “May God grant him strength and patience. May God protect him. I’m concerned about his personal safety. America and the world need such a president.”

WASHINGTON WIKILEAKS NEWS – SAUDI ARABIA AND ARAB NATIONS SIDED WITH ISRAEL, URGING AMERICA TO STOP IRAN

The Wikileaks leaked documents say a lot today in terms of Foreign Affairs in the USA concerning Iran and other Arab Nations. Today, Bloomberg reports:

“Saudi Arabia and other Arab governments sided with Israel in urging the U.S. to stop Iran from developing a nuclear bomb, according to a New York Times account of 250,000 classified U.S. embassy cables released by WikiLeaks, the non-profit website.”

And… “In the documents, American officials say that Iran obtained 19 advanced missiles from North Korea, potentially giving the Islamic Republic the capability to attack Moscow and cities in Western Europe, the newspaper said in articles published online today. At the request of the Obama Administration, the New York Times agreed not to publish the text of the Feb. 24 cable that reported the Korean missile deal with Iran.”

Of course, the White House spokesperson on the matter, a Nicole Thompson, denies any information in these documents via Wikileaks.

Interesting stuff.

__

Previous information about Nicole states these things: Nicole Thompson serves as a Press Officer in the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Public Affairs.

Her writings focused on the G20 Summit are: “For most of us, up-to-the minute news and information Read the rest of this entry »

SOME KIWI TRADING NEWS VIA USA – 11.14.10

On USA & New Zealand trading together better: “Following talks in Japan, John Key says Barack Obama’s given a strong commitment to a free trade agreement between USA and New Zealand.”–11.14.10, Newstalk ZB.

My thoughts are, if good New Zealand butter can hit America, President Obama did his country folk a big favor. The “good butter situation” here in America, is like famine status, I kid you not.

BARRY GLIBB COMMENTS ON CREW LABOR OF 3D FILM MAKING IN NEW ZEALAND – WITH A REPLY FROM ME

“Middle Earth is a 3D film making environment of film making excellence, rich in imagination facilitating diverse culture’s vision (their tino rangatiratanga and unique cultural sovereignty of culture) and their vibrantly entertaining expression in 3D film. Middle Earth is rich in acceptance of others’ difference & a film making haven of World Peace”–Horiwood, 2020′s.

“In 3D, all nations are created equal, in Wellywood film making practices, imagination, execution and delivery of film production excellence.”–Abe Lincoln and Horiwood.

A film is not a film, unless it is made in the Spirit of the experimental filmmaker–Len Lye, filmic artist, Taranaki.

In New Zealand we collaborate and create the world’s next array of Super Heroes in 3D, with powerful messages of good that impact and change the global consciousness and future direction of the world, through Kiwi made pop culture in cinema, merchandising, music soundtracks and entertainment distribution–2020′s

Writes Barry Glibb of the :

“Perhaps unemployed Americans should move to New Zealand to become underpaid production assistants for all these movies.”–Barry was responding to: “JAMES CAMERON’S AVATAR SOARS AHEAD ON WINGS OF HOBBIT LAW CHANGE”

A response: HORIWOOD – What a great idea Barry. The lifestyle that nature has to offer Americans, when not on set in New Zealand – is accessible to all – and would more than make up for any pay cuts.

Also, travel – let’s all people grow up and learn, outside their own cultural frames of reference.

It shows security within peoples own sense of identity, when Americans become a minority on distant shores and blend with the world too. Happily.

In New Zealand, people like dialogue, (not one-sided cultural monologue–so Americans will be more than fine in that switch and exchange). Exciting.

With New Zealand’s potential to attract Bollywood and China to New Zealand landscapes to film musicals and action films in NZ too in 3D in the future, the Americans who do make early inroads into NZ 3D filmmaking NOW – will be set with work for life.

NZ is going to become busy. A globally sought after 3D filmmaking nation. How New Zealanders welcome warmly diverse cultures of the world and overseas actors and crew members too (including those from Hollywood, Bollywood, Hong Kong, Mainland China, Dubai, Russia, UK–every now and again–France), will determine the return rate of these nations to NZ as a filmmaking nation. As far as America is concerned (Avatar’s record breaking success as Hollywood’s leading film of all time box office history), New Zealand is a culturally friendly place for Americans to work and conquer from, with a Hollywood-Wellywood partnership.

Conclusion: Your blog Barry, is rocking, albeit as minimalist as it is, I enjoyed the guide to your twitter account. Thanks for commenting. Incidentally New Zealand has 5% more women than men in its total population, so there’s a few girls that wouldn’t mind marrying an American crew member and sharing citizenship and beach views like no other. A lot to look forward to, aye?!

Wellywood is the box office winning 3D Film Franchises Haven of the film making world. Those who find success with their franchises, will all own homes in New Zealand on beach fronts and live there for most of the year. Their kids will be raised there. It’s the new more-relaxed mecca of box office power players, that can deliver proven results. Well, in 2020, this will be so–Wellywood is the World’s 3D Mecca. It is Middle Earth. A meeting place in The Middle for all cultures to realize the cinematic visions, without culture being compromised in the film making process. New Zealand is a culturally rich haven, paradise nation for this to occur for 3D film makers across the globe.  Good change ahead in Middle Earth.

I like your thinking Barry, where yes, film crew getting roughed around in Hollywood should move to NZ. Why not! NZ is a nation based on immigrants who joined the Indigenous Maori People, so as one of them, NZ can handle you bonding with us Maori-Kiwi lot. It’s how we came to be as a nation, just like America.

Incidentally how any nation has treated their Indigenous Peoples, is the barometer of all human rights relations in the world. It’s the gage of whether other cultures can be trusted dealing within our shores fairly as nations. So as a Maori-Kiwi if you want to move to NZ, I say… Go for it! Get on board brother. More studios other than WETA will spring up in New Zealand too, in order to handle the demand and keep a fair and competitive 3D filmmaking industry occurring in NZ. The economic possibilities are exciting.

A SAUDI AMBASSADOR SEEKS ASYLUM IN THE U.S

Ali Ahmad Asseri seeks Asylum in America because he says he is a) gay and b) friends with a Jewish woman.

He sounds like many talk show guests on the Chelsea Lately Show, but this is not a funny matter.

Poor guy! How can he concentrate on being a good ambassador for Saudi Arabia, if all of this fear is surrounding his return? I forgot that in Saudi Arabia men like Ali, might suffer persecution. Do you think Ali should be allowed to stay in America, if he fancies himself as a Saudi Bill or Ben of the USA?

And how do you do a gay test on someone to grant them asylum? I mean, really! Do you sit them down to fill out a questionaire at iHop saying, will you have the sausages or the fish with your eggs sir? Does this mean, an Exodus of men from Saudi Arabia could ensue?

A precedent setting asylum seeking case in the works.

[Excuse the blurry image. But yes, this story is being printed as if its real news. Image blurry as this man's status is blurry. Hence the shot].
