LISA MARIE PRESLEY TALKS OF MICHAEL JACKSON TO OPRAH WINFREY
This is a meeting of big American celebrity names. Reports Pop Eater: ‘Lisa Marie told Oprah that she was in England when she heard the news of Michael Jackson‘s death and John Travolta was one of the first to break it to her.
When Oprah asked what she felt, she replied, “Real honest to goodness shock, not even tears. I was floored, honestly floored.”
On Jackson’s drug problem, she claims she didn’t notice until the very end of their marriage. “I didn’t really suspect and catch on until just before I filed for divorce. There was just an occasion, an incident where he had collapsed and he was in the hospital,” she described of the scene in 1995 when Jackson collapsed while rehearsing for an HBO concert and doctors blamed it on a viral infection.
“It was very confusing what was wrong. Every day there was a different report. And I couldn’t tell what was happening,” she added. “I couldn’t really get a straight answer about what was happening with him and I think we were all a little bit in the dark. At that point, I think I got from various indications that that was going on then.”
“There were times that I would pick him up from certain doctors’ offices and he would not be coherent,” Presley remembered.
Something she wanted to make clear, their romance was for real. “I honestly can tell you, it was every sense a normal marriage.”
“One of the very highest points of my life was when things were going really well and he and I were united together and he and I had an understanding about some of the people and things that could go on around him and he was with me on those things and we were a unit and I could take care of him,” she told Oprah.
“For some reason, I don’t know what happens when someone passes away and this is what’s come of it. But I’ve come to have all this love again and understanding for him. I don’t know why it had to take all that to have this happen. That upsets me a bit,” Presley opined.
“Were you angry with him before?” Oprah questioned.
“I was very angry. I was so angry. I felt that we were so united and then at some point he pushed me out.”
“There was a very profound point in the marriage when he had to make a decision — was it the drugs and the sort of vampires or me? And he pushed me away.”
She compared Jackson to her father, Elvis Presley. “The one thing that correlates with Michael and my father on this subject, they had the luxury of creating whatever reality around them they wanted to create.”
Winfrey brought up the similar way in which both her father and her ex-husband lived and died.
“It really blows me away, to be honest with you. I still try to figure out why? What is it that I had to go through this twice?” she recalled. “I went through it once, that was painful and I went through it again.”
She reveals that she wished she had reached out to Jackson before his death. “I know it’s naive to think that I could have (saved him) but I wanted to. Had I made a call, had I stopped being so shut off from him, had I just said ‘How are you?’ I really regret that I didn’t.”

We all need role models. Usher fancies himself as the next Michael Jackson. Meanwhile, Lisa Marie Presley wants MJ fans to get in the spirit of surrounding Jackson’s grave with happy, yellow sunflowers. On her she posts:

Lisa Marie Presley was born into rock royalty and the fame game. Very few people understand the ramifications of being a celebrity for America’s entertainment like this child of rock n’ roll fame.
It was Presley’s statement about the death of her ex-husband Michael Jackson that propelled the Queen of an iconic entertainment empire to speak out on behalf of a great.
Not only was Lisa Marie’s statement honest, but she used the word “vampire” to describe Michael Jackson’s demise in the spotlight by referring to the many ‘hangers on’ in The King of Pop’s world masquerading as friends, with this one term.
Always publicity savvy and yet a humanitarian of the highest order, it was no surprise that “vampire” turned out to be the 5th most used word in America, and Presley again proved she has the words to best define American celebrity perhaps better than any critic alive today.
She’s golden. I love her. What a woman. When all is said and done, after giving birth to twins and the surprise announcement that her son Benjamin Presley will follow in grandfather Elvis Presley‘s musical suede shoes, Lisa Marie is the 32nd most sought after person on the planet in Hollywood for 2009.

Athough already featured on Horiwood.Com, here’s Lisa Marie Presley and her twins magazine cover from New Idea, again. They’re too cute.
The grief headline, makes reference to Lisa Marie’s casting as a young girl, as the heir born into a Graceland empire, that exists for fans to remember and grieve her dad, Elvis‘ death.
I don’t think Lisa Marie, grieves much. She is too busy raising her brood of talented, strong-willed children, but New Idea seems to thinks she does to sell their cover. Lol!
A LOCK OF ELVIS HAIR SELLS FOR $18,300
It’s no wonder, why Lisa Marie Presley is a little bit reclusive. A lock of her dad, Elvis Presley‘s hair just sold for $18,300. I think that people should give anyone’s hair back to their family after they die. So this is nuts.
Being raised a Maori in beautiful New Zealand, taught me that chief’s remains go back to their family. It’s culturally correct. Not so in America though as fame supersedes all rationale. Especially with Elvis fans, who go insane for a piece of an American King’s cultural legacy, as this news item shows today.
Over 150 items that once belonged to Gary Pepper, former president of the Elvis Presley fan club went on the auction block at Chicago’s Leslie Hindman auctioneers.
The lock of the King of Rock N Roll’s hair, was believed to have been cut off his head when he was conscripted into the army.
A red ultra-suede tee worn once by Presley, sold for $34,000. And we wonder why the Jackson family are a very private family too. That’s insane!
Meanwhile, Lisa Marie Presley, debuted Elvis’ twin granddaughters Harper and Findlay to the world, via Hello Magazine. Cute. Lisa Marie knew the papparazi would try and get the pics anyway.
I like how she rolls, while her eldest son, Benjamin Presley is following in grandad Elvis’ footsteps as a rocker. She’s a good mom.
