Groupon is the coupon offers network that is producing the next bright sparks of the IT generation here in the USA. They leverage multinationals to provide a good deal for Groupon members, hence the appeal.
Recently, realizing that everyone loves a bargain in this economy, Google threw a $6 billion offer at Groupon, that the latter walked away from. Now comes this story that Living Social are offering a better deal than Groupon, needless to say, Google is now going to go it alone and mimic Groupon’s winning service and compete against this company. Sharky! Or just all fun in IT biz wars?
Either way it’s good for the online consumer… so we’ll take it. More coupon scoop-ons for the consumer. Even then, I wonder what movie ticket deals Groupon will muster next to move ahead of the pack. Here’s the face of Groupon -Andrew Mason. What a smile! Another Zukcerberg styled Americano in the works. I’m remindd of Sam from New Zealand, who sold TradeMe (a local version of E-Bay, sorta) for $700 million. He was mid twenties. Dudes like this are… Clever. Our favorite too if in the USA and NZ. Alright… definitely India…. and maybe Canada, the UK and Aussie too then. :)
