At 5’10 Chinese model, Liu Wen from Yongzhou in China’s Hunan province is the first Asian model to walk the runway of Victoria’s Secret fashion show, as the lingerie giant, appeals to China to grow their market outside of US shores.
Says the strikingly beautiful Wen: ”I was surprised when my agent told me,” Wen said hours before she was set to walk the runway. She seemed only slightly overwhelmed: clad in a pink robe, one technician assigned to her fingernails, another to her toenails and another adding extensions to her already long black hair. “I asked my agent if she was joking. I didn’t think an Asian girl would get this job.”
Victoria’s Secret plucked Wen, 21, out of a regular model casting call.
“Liu Wen is a beautiful woman. She has a strong and energetic presence on the runway. She looked absolutely stunning in our fashion show,” said the show’s executive producer, Monica Mitro.
Congratulations to Liu Wen. Go girl! True colors shining through. Love her!

I’d like to leave a big congratulation for Ms Liu. I’m an American living in China and my wife just happens to be from Yongzhou/Lengshuitan Hunan (Hexi). I’ve been there several times to visit my inlaws so I can imagine what a humble beginning this model must have had as a child. For example my brother inlaw played with stones for fun as a child… couldn’t afford toys etc. Anyways I’m curious to see if more model talent starts appearing from this area as there is a wealth of beauty in Hunan, hubei and jiangxi that has yet gone untapped.
