Katie Couric’s ‘Children of The Recession’ interview spotlight on CBS Evening News stunned America tonight with statistical information that reveals that only one in 5 college students who graduate from college in 2009 are able to find employment.
That’s only merely a 20% of all graduates in 2009 finding work!
In 2007, 51% of all college graduates were able to find work after interviewing for jobs. Those were much different times.
It makes people ask the question, what is a college education today? And why is President Barack Obama insisting that all American adults should be persuing higher education? If there’s no jobs for these higher educated people to go, isn’t it time to modify those noble but naive expectations?
College graduates of 2009, would say “yes.”
On a positive note though, academics reflect on history back to similar times in The Great Depression of the 1930s. They say that it was a character building time for all people and that they expect their graduates of 2009 to be a lot stronger as a result of enduring and working through recession times. It’s good to stay positive.
That was a nice spin on a rotten story for new grads! Good luck grads on creating new employment opportunities. Yes You Can! :)
