OBAMA TARGETS BUSH’S ‘WEALTHY’TAX CUTS PROMISES, AS A SWEETNER TO WIN POPULOUS VOTES IN MIDTERMS

Progress in politics today can be difficult and is like this tee shirt’s message. [On overload] Thinking. Please wait.

The patience of a saint is needed. Washington is very interesting at this nano-second. In the political circus ring today, we have a first term president up against the ropes in recession’s gloom, and a U.S deficit he inherited, that he’s in charge of addressing. What is a man to do, wearing his Rocky boxing gloves, while he takes the microphone, Wednesday?

This was it: “Singling out House GOP leader John Boehner in his home state, Obama delivered a searing attack on Republicans for advocating “the same philosophy that led to this mess in the first place: cut more taxes for millionaires and cut more rules for corporations.”

My thoughts are split on this one:

a) this will appease the struggling majority of people not wealthy, that a sense of ‘justice’has come their way, under a new President’s lead. A good message to send a majority in a mid term voting strategy that well–acts as a sweetner to most Americans.

b) On the other hand, everything I’ve observed about the ideological values of American, life and culture in any field, while living in it for almost five years–glorifies the wealthy (as signifiers in a system of American ‘success’). It doesn’t seem fair to me, that the concept of ‘The American Dream’that is held up as the jewel of democracy (even though it’s straight up rooted in capitalism very openly and without any pretension to this fact) that all in America are constantly encouraged to run after, pursue and strive for as an ideal of the Great American Way… well, why should the very people who got there to the allusive finishing line–then have their medals stripped from them? Or worse, downsized when they ordered the McDonald’s super-sized french fries, happy meal, option in the America, they too were promised? Two wrongs, don’t make a right.

Isn’t that flogging your heroes of the system, who paid for it (ie: how political campaigns ‘work’and how candidate frontrunners are funded in this country), that all in politics serve, if we’re honest?

Oh well, I’m not a rocket-scientist politician, (I’m really a Maori ‘celeb blogging’blonde, ha! When I am ‘assaulted’to think politically, I’m like this message on this tee shirt, pictured above, and my space-blocking radar is on all systems go–like “hey man, don’t disturb me for DAYS, cos this Maori ‘blonde’is still darn thinking!!!) Neither do I get paid to think, most days, I’m like many Americans–we just still give a damn! We think because we care.

But I throw the above semi-politcal viewpoints via a celebrity-centric and arts-entertainment blog on the American-friendly table, as yet another paradoxical example of Poker-Faced expressionism of American life, we all love and are fascinated by.

Your thoughts, if any, on the Obama ‘Vs’Boehner/ Bush Ghost tax cut debate? Feel free to add a comment and shed light on all of this today.

No judgement to Obama, (I have a degree of respect for him as a leader, as we all should) … a man’s gotta do and play his game, so he can play a bigger game for country and the world. But this is one of the rare occasions, I feel empathy for the wealthy in this country. They’re a threatened community right now and that’s not cool. If we are honest – they have taken big hits like all of us in recession times too –and, they’re often the mountain tops of society, with a perceptive view of the valley’s depths, for society overall. Wealthy people are not always ‘our’enemies as Obama kinda ‘frames’them to be here, using Boehner’s mug to do it. Why clip the wing span of tried and proven Eagles? when growing the wings of all, is more where efforts need to be positioned and spent? Let the strong eagles fly, I say! May a convocation of eagles soaring (a flock of eagles if reading in New Zealand and Australia) be the norm, that generates layers of more eagles emulating their examples and doing the same, outside of a one man (or woman), and one political party led structure alone.

We live in different times. The leadership structure needs to be more flat, not pyramid like (as the pre-recession model, that failed us, taught us)–yet those at the top of their own proven self-sustaining pyramids, still need to be given immunity to lead as they do (with adequate tax breaks), regardless of what party is in power at the time. Otherwise, why not just pack up and go to Switzerland? Or elsewhere? So, incentives need to occur for all.

Gosh the coffee’s a tad bit extra-strength strong today. ‘Celebrities’aren’t getting much of a look in, to this blog today.

For the full context of President Obama’s quote above, go here to read. For an angle on Obama’s election strategy, stereotyping Boehner, Capehart at Washington Post sheds obvious light. As alternative commentary to my pro-President stance, KitchenDragon50 says in comments in Capehart’s article, “Of course Obama blames Boehner. He continues to poison the well to ensure that there will be NO cooperation between the White House and the Congress for the last two years of his administration. It seems like he is planning to blame the Republicans for his own failures so he can run for reelection (ala Clinton in 1996).”

And with that, a wee note to KitchenDragon: Um, did Obama not inherit a totally poisoned well already? That’s why sweetening the well for all is the only intelligent way forward! And I believe that Obama is the kind of leader that has the vision to do both, if he’s just allowed the breathing space too, without constant attack, then I think he can do just that.

But let’s blame the strong coffee today and not people or leaders all doing their very best. That makes perfect sense. :)
