Businessman Adam Lambert does not want to be more American Idol wallpaper, so what did he do at the American Music Awards, Sunday night? He entertained with sexually-charged fetish ‘shock’ factor… aka costuming and with the help of actors.
If there’s one thing consistent about Lambert is that B’Glam can grab a headline. And in today’s world of music sales, the artist who can do that each week, stays alive in America. With critics controversially divided on Lambert’s performance, he’s done just that.
Anyway, “the knives really came out at the usually “Idol”-friendly Entertainment Weekly, which took some issue with the bump-and-maul factor, but also took issue with the sometimes weak notes the typically powerful Lambert displayed during the bit. “Talk about ‘No Boundaries,’ ” wrote “Idol” expert Michael Slezak. “Adam Lambert made his first big post-’Idol’ splash tonight, closing the American Music Awards with a performance of his debut single ‘For Your Entertainment’ that — to my surprise and disappointment — emphasized shock-and-awe imagery over his standard-operating vocal excellence.”
Although many critics are extremely hard on Lambert, Monday, he is a talented artist. If anything Lambert proves that he will not go through a manufactured pop mill 100% manufactured, but he will add his own touches to the mix of pop entertainment.
Personally, I can’t wait to hear Adam Lambert’s ballads. Now that’s what the world is really waiting for from the young rising star.
