Fox News is officially the news channel of first choice for Americans, particularly young Americans. CNN is critically flagging in the ratings game for news audiences.
Fox’s prime time ratings average is up 84% right now, on the year. Wow!
Nielsen reports that 1.1 million 25-54 year olds tuned in. This is the lucrative market of working spenders, that advertisers most want to attract. So chalk it Fox!
MSNBC is #2 with 974,000 viewers. HLN is #3 with 842,000. Not even getting a bronze medal at #4 is CNN with 826,000.
The message, having entertaining, celerity-driven shows created by your brand, fares well for when you go to broadcast the news and hard facts. CNN needs to put the fun back into their news during recession.
No one wants doom and gloom hard facts alone when they tune into their TVs at night. Audiences have enough of that in their jobs fixing the American economy, to want to hear more bad news. Mix it up CNN. Feel good stories, a touch of celebrity magic, as well as ‘hard facts reporting.’ Alright then, on with the show.
