You wrote: [Big props to ‘the sacrifices’ that Taylor Lautner, Alex Meraz, Chaske Spencer, Brosnon Pelletier and Gran Canyon man, Kiowa Gordon are ‘enduring’ to make the Twlight series even more exciting. Together these lads offer redemption to Hollywood’s history of First Nation Indians past of exploitation and misrepresentation which Hollywood was once built on, in the Western movie genre.]

I agree with you the cast, but not with Taylor Lautner. For many reasons, until he proves his identity as a First Nation or Indigenous actor, you have to bring to light this issue. It makes the article less than what it is. Perhaps you choose to ignore in the article the issue on Mr. Lautner's native ancestry.

HORIWOOD: what i meant by 'enduring' is... why do First Native Indian actors need to play 'half animals' before they get a break in movie land? Regardless, Meyer invented a way for these lads to get a start so full props to her and them for giving us these great stars.

I think consciousness of one's Inidgienity occurs more over time. For example an apple tree is going to get older and just start to grow apples. Hopefully that is Lautner's story. I think you make a good point though in Highlighting that for Lautner, expressing his First Native Indian ancestry and manifesting this more in a tangible form could be a potential issue. He is alreayd mainstream, and the trappings of Hollywood lure a lad just to see the fame and success of what it offers at the box office without necessarily having to advocate for the plight of his people. Jessica Alba is a good case study for Taylor Lautner. She's always been proud to be of Mexican blood. She just never felt the need to express it until: a) she was an established star and felt secure to and B) she had a child who she was responsible for teaching her heritage to. Both her and her baby girl are learning Spanish this year, so it was a progressive journey for her.
I celebrate Lautner and The Twilight cast for their achievements this year. Though we do not want to see Taylor Lautner turn out to be a Hollywood potatoe (brown on the outside, but white on the inside) and not express the many gifts his ancestors gave him in the fullness of his heritage, it is an opinion like yours that helps a star like him, seek out his heritage more and express it. Criticism of Alba (being a 'potatoe' too) helped her want to express her Mexican-ness more, so it is all a part of that process for a star cast in a big Hollywood spotlight. Thank you for your opinion and sharing your insights with us all as a fellow Taylor Lautner fan. We See You! :)
