Here’s ten things about sports psychologist Bill Cole that we can learn from:

1.Bill Cole, MS, MA, has had a larger profile than most in the competitive field of sport psychology for over three decades, as a student, writer-teacher, athlete-coach, personal trainer, speaker and someone who consults others in sports fields. His branding is peak performance mental game. By the sounds of things, Bill would be perfect for mountain climbers, with that branding.

2. Bill’s website says he is an award-winning scholar-athlete. Claims to fame include coaching major-league pro sports and big-time college athletics. Mr Cole is a multiple Hall-Of-Fame honoree and Bill has created leading-edge workshop packages, seminars and training programs he sells to whoever books his time and buys his resources.

4. Bill’s is not media shy. That’s good to see. He’s featured in Golf Magazine, Tennis Magazine, Runner’s World, Fitness Magazine, Yahoo! Sports, MSNBC.com, The San Francisco Examiner and Chronicle, The San Jose Mercury News, The Denver Post, The Detroit News, The Buffalo News to name but a few sports psychologist paparazzi moments of Mr Cole.

5. His website states Cole, speaks from “a wide and deep background as a high achiever across many disciplines.” With this branding Bill could make a perfect mental coach for an athlete like Phillipe Costeau Jr., and other sea diving explorer types too if he brushed up on his French philosophy and psychological tools.

6. Bill Coles key skill sets lie in these fields of training and expertise: a) World-Class ATP Pro Tennis Tour Sports Psychology Coach, b) Two-Sport National-Level Athlete and Professional Athlete, c) Founder and President of an International Coaching Association, d) Professional Speaker and Trainer, e) A columnist of 360 odd articles as well as being a published author. f) his website says that Bill has won awards as a student. g) Because Bill coaches tennis players and he’s also modest, Bills website also says that Mr Cole has won “numerous awards and honors. Or in English, this man knows how to network.

7. Perhaps what I most enjoy about Bill’s branding as a coach is that he’s totally tagged himself as the “Mental Game Coach™.” Bill is global, coaching “high performers in pressure-cooker sports situations” as varied as the Baseball College World Series, Wimbledon, the US Open and Davis Cup. Alright, at this point–who does not want Bill’s cool job?!

8. Bill’s written tools of the trade take the form of a) published training manuals, b) assessment instruments c) audio products on sports psychology, peak performance, motivation, self-development, the paradox of success, mental toughness, team-building, leadership, achievement, mental training, coaching.

9. Bill Cole is the author of the book Tennis The Mental Game. Well, when I watch Serena Williams throw a tanty on court, on the rare occasion perhaps Bill’s book gives credence to this fact at times, on a hot day with tennis players and tennis umpires subjective foot fault calls.

10. Bill has led workshops for over 30 years. He loves to talk. He describes himself as “an engaging, warm speaker and master storyteller.” He was a member of the Board Of Directors of The National Speakers Association (Northern California) for two years. Good for Bill.

Thanks Bill for adding to the field of sports psychology. For an up and coming hot shot in the field of Sports Psychology too, here in California, check out Mora Kanim also of Coaching C.L.O.U.T. I hear as a sports psychologist and a coach of coaches and business leaders, Mora is winner.

To check out Venus Williams new book, go here. CBS reports Bill Clinton‘s guest pages in Venus’ new book and her response to the former U.S President as being: “In the book, former President Bill Clinton talks about how playing rugby and golf helped him become President of the United States.

“Amazed by his journey, Williams was extremely flattered that Mr. Clinton mentioned her in his story in her book and recalls writing “wow” in her notes while compiling material for the book.

“Mr. Clinton, who was influenced by his parents, said his main goal and message was “never quit.”

“He goes through his rugby experience, how he played through a concussion and found a way through and it really got him through his experiences at the White House 37,” Williams explained.” Along with Bill Clinton, Venus’ favorite spicy chef, Marcus Samuelsson also makes a cameo appearance in Venus book of star motivation.
