Just not as well as Angelina Jolie can at the box office.
The Box movie, starring Cameron Diaz, has taken only $7 million at the box office this weekend. The film cost $25 million to make. Diaz is up against the AEG produced Michael Jackson This Is It doco and also funnyman Jim Carey‘s new Disney flick, A Christmas Carol.
It appears that most movie goers want a good laugh this weekend, where Carey will rake in $30-$35 million at the box office by Sunday. Nice one Jimmie!
Diaz’s box office results are no personal reflection on the A-List actress though.
Angelina Jolie, Hollywood’s reigning Queen, is the only woman who comes in the Top 10 of biggest box earners.
Jolie films usually open at #1 over box office weekend surveys. Women are still continuing to push the bar in Hollywood, as Diaz’s results show today.
Not everyone can be Angelina Jolie though (a bisexual child of an Oscar winner; a once drug user, turned Oscar winning husband snatcher; who cast herself in the most high profile tabloid ‘love triangle’ in America; is a pilot flying mother of six, who gave birth to the world’s most famous twins; who also is a gruelling, kick butt action star, an executive film producer; ranked the #1 Forbes celebrity of 2009 over Oprah and is the world’s most famous humanitarian on the planet. Angel of refugees worldwide).
Quite a Holllywood tale at 34 years-of-age in that box office Star Story! But Cameron is getting there in earning her star badges. Congrats Diaz, for making $7 mil in this economy! :)
Still a good story and an honest effort for all Hollywood actresses to celebrate. Any woman that puts themselves out there in this dicey economy like Diaz has, solo, is fearless and brave. Props. Love her.
