Excellence in one’s field is about practice, focus, discpline and in this case, speed. Usain Bolt became the world’s fastest man over the 100 meters sprint, when he smashed the old world record, setting a new record of 9.58 seconds.

Bolt was competing at the IAAF Berlin 2009 – World Championships on 16.08.2009.

I remember when I was a kid doing track and my Maori mom used  to scream  at me to run faster as I sprinted. So she wouldn’t shame me out in front of all my friends and  their folks, I stayed ahead of the pack, to reduce her excited screams. It helped.

I wonder what  Usain’s Jamaican momma was doing, as he set a new record and made world history on the track. His mom was probably having a near heart attack. How exciting!

Says Bolt: “I was feeling good after the semis. I knew it was going to be a great race and I executed it,” Bolt said. “It’s a great time, a great feeling, I feel good in myself and I knew I could do it.

”There was a big build up, great atmosphere. It wasn’t going to be an easy race but I had a perfect start and just went from there.

”I came out here to do my best and I did what I had to do. There’ll be no partying for me ahead of Tuesday. I’ll rest up as always, I need to rest up for the 200m.”

Congratulations to Usain Bolt. That’s totally awesome! He smashed the previous world record that was 9.69 seconds. This record he  had also set himself. He’s his own competition and no can catch him.
