To be mean to one’s spouse is what TLC Network has created the Jon & Kate Plus 8 TV show to be.

Monday night’s episode, of power-freak Kate, and laid back easy-rider Jon, revealed a hubby who was being ‘mean’ to his wife. [It was Kate's turn, in the sympathy ring, as far as TLC were concerned].

On Kate’s 34th birthday, Jon was out of town. His reasons to camera were pretty lame. ”I went out to Utah for, like, five days,” Jon said.”I just wanted to get back out there and ride with my friends. It just happened to fall on Kate’s birthday.”

This means one of two things. The couple are already separated and are pulling the wool over America’s eyes as ‘bad’ reality TV ‘actors’ that they are still married. Or, that ‘all is fair in love and war’ storylines of MEAN are what this show is really about regarding a heated war of spousal envy, mistaken for love.

Should we watch this show, if they’re no longer married? Does it change the show dynamic at all? Do we ever care?! No!

Jon does look good on a bike though! And I’m sure TLC will have Kate being the meanie next week, in their series episode line up! You know that’s how TV ratings are spun!
