I wonder if Team Twilight are going for the best adaptation Oscar with their script changes to New Moon from its adaptation from the book to the screen. It appears that this is the case.
According to Life & Style there are some changes that Stephenie Meyers has agreed to with adapting her book New Moon to the screen. Nice one girl, that you’re not that precious to make quality changes to your work, that you think the peeps want to see onscreen!
Bella’s alliance with Taylor Lautner’s Paul in New Moon (Taylor is cast as a dare-devil fearless biker wolf pack lad), allows Bella to be more biker-chick daredevil too in pushing fate in a hope that Edward will reappear to her.
In the book Edward comes to Bella in the form of a voice. But because, Robert Pattinson has now superceded Edward’s vampire fascination, ON SCREEN, he will now appear visually as an apparition. It worked well for Cate Blanchette’s queen in New Zealand’s Lord Of The Rings, so it will work a treat here to for Twilight. Smart!
Pattinson says: “I really wanted it to be a complete absence. It’s easier to give it more power at the end if I’m completely absent.” It must be hard when absence is read as presence so much, that it would detract from the storyline when you have RPatz star power. Let’s face it, he is Twilight’s success with his Harry Potter bling that he carries into the film to give it that magical quality that tweens go mad for.
Because Taylor Lautner is a world champion martial arts expert, there will also be an action-packed scene featuring Laurent who will battle against the werewolves. In the book, Laurent is destroyed by Taylor Launter and Alex Meraz’s wolf pack.
I like this idea as Hollywood is built on cowboys and Indians narratives of the Western genre movie. This is a modern day take on it, with the skill of First Nations Indians casting and actors being able to bring, the magic that built Hollywood, but in a much better and non exploitative light, to First Nations actors, by Twilight. Hot! It’s rewriting Hollywood’s history books and we love that!
Fially in New Moon’s literary version, Edward changes the ending to a different union for Bella. The book sees Edward agreeing to transform Bella into a vampire if she agrees to wed him. But the film takes a different spin on the age old covenant of marriage. Interesting indeed!
It’s awesome how both Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner’s skills and drawcards at the box office is altering a better and more entertaining story for Twilight fans and movie goers. It makes you love Stephenie Meyers even more! Go Team Twilight! Good luck for your first Oscar with this approach. We like it!
Now my big question… when will Oscar’s reigning vampire queen, Anna Paquin (of The Piano, X Men and True Blood fame) join the cast of Twilight to aid these tween peeps to Oscar gold. You know Anna can do that. Like Peter Jackson of Oscar glory, Anna is from New Zealand too. She’s magic!
Hugh Jackman is Hollywood’s reigning Wolverine, but Anna who acted with Hugh in X Men is the linking character to give Twilight’s wolf pack some Oscar’s glow. How could Hollywood ignore that, powerful reminder! She’s the Ace card.
