Le(e)ding the pack, with what to do with one’s celebrity, Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, did good this week.
Angelina visited the International Criminal Court in The Hague, Netherlands yesterday, where a Congolese warlord is being charged with using child soldiers. Jolie’s comment of the hearing being a “landmark trial for children” made it a significant event that got the attention of the humanitarian for children’s causes. Thomas Lubanga stands trial for exploiting kids by recruiting them as soldiers.
Meanwhile, Brad Pitt showed some brotherly and charitable love this week. Brad along with his bro, Doug Pitt, made a $6000 donation to Dury University in Springfield, Missouri, in their dad’s name! Particularly, to the O’Reilly Family Event Center to ensure the University achieved Gold LEED (Leadership in Environmental Energy and Design) certified status. It’s the first Gold LEED certified events center arena in the nation and features “low-flow water fixtures, a dedicated recycling area and a solar-reflective roof and pavement materials.” How green friendly.
The event centers courtyard area is named, William A. Pitt Court after the Jolie-Pitt kids grandad. It’s nice to see that charity runs deep in the Pitt family from the lads.
