[image source] They’re described by Stefanie Mills in her book New Moon from the Twilight vampire series, as being warm blooded. In fact, juxtaposed against the cold bloods of the Vampire kingdom of Vancouver, New Moon’s Wolf Pack’s blood temperature is categorized by Mills as being 108 degrees. Let’s just say that they’re designed to “give you fever.”
Who else best to play authentic, redeeming, protective, onscreen heartthrobs and “the boys who will always be loyal when others foresake a sense of fair,” than a great line up of First Nation Indian lads.
Their histories in America and Canada, exemplify a loyalty and empathetic tribal philosophy of long standing forgiveness, when let down by cold hearted, two-faced types.
That’s why the creation and the casting of New Moon’s wolf pack is so brilliant in literature and also Hollywood cinema. Go Stefanie Mills for bringing a conteporary sense of redress in her characterization of her best selling story series! So smart. With heart.
In this first promo pic from Twilight filmmakers, Kiowa Gordon, of the Hualapai tribe from The Grand Canyon is the actor who flanks the lads of the new wolf pack Injun lads on the right. Gordon’s Hualapai Tribal heritage is tribally situated in The Grand Canyon which ranks as the #1 tourist attraction in America each year, outsmarting Disneyland and Venice Beach of California, as the top tourist destination in America each year. So, it’s a smart choice to include Kiowa Gordon who play Emry in New Moon.
Alex Meraz, who plays Paul, intros the wolf pack at the left of this promotional pic. A good strategy, to start with your sexiest card and let the sexy infuse across the rest of the pack. Chaske Spencer is center stage, the heavyweight muscle man of the pack whose role as Sam (yay!) is pivotal in New Moon’s wolf pack leadership.
Alongwith Bronson Pelletier who plays Jared, all are four Ace cards to play further on down the vampire wolf PR trail that is the incredible youth-tween appeal driven marketing machine that is behind Twilight and New Moon’s unstoppable success. They just keep the hit coming with new tween faces. Love that! They’re doing more for Hollywood with the tween market, than Hollywood is outside of Disney. I dig it. So smart, so refreshing, so needed. They’re the future of the box office’s new direction as tween’s now control box office sales and direction, this past two years. At least Twilight are totally on it, and with the times in this regard. Smart. Smart. Savvy-licious movie making!
Our additional First Nation Indian actors, join 17 year-old Taylor Lautner to beef up Wolf Pack support. Lautner, has grown some extra bum fluff for Twilight’s sequel and he returns as a hairier, scarier Jacob Black.
The storyline finds Kristen stewart cast as a hopefilled but abandoned, Damsel in distress and Jacob grows closer to our distraught Bella, played by the arresting Kristen Stewart, after her vampire Romeo Prince, Edward, runs off to sort out a few matters. The wolf pack act as her conscience she can depend on to protect her virtue and love for Edward. It really is a case as absence of Edward, speaks louder than his presence to refine and hone Bella’s strong and pure love for her beau.
But being one of the wolf pack gang, is not all as glamorous as it seems. I know there’s the axiom in Hollywood, no pain no gain. But the temperatures in Hollywood, California are a littl ebit more filming friendly than the natural cold temperatures of beautiful Vancouver, Canada. These lads don’t have it easy, for their 15 minutes. Props to them.
Among wolf pack job requirements: the ability to work half-naked no matter what the weather in the Vancouver, B.C., area, where the film has been shooting for several weeks is a given.
“It’s not pleasant for the actors,” says director Chris Weitz. “But they have all been good-natured. They show up on location in drenching, cold rain, and I say, ‘OK, off with the robes.’”
Big props to ‘the sacrifices’ that Taylor Lautner, Alex Meraz, Chaske Spencer, Brosnon Pelletier and Gran Canyon man, Kiowa Gordon are ‘enduring’ to make the Twlight series even more exciting. Together these lads offer redemption to Hollywood’s history of First Nation Indians past of exploitation and misrepresentation which Hollywood was once built on, in the Western movie genre.
All props to Stefanie Mills and these lads for building a better future for First Nations peoples and also Hollywood in a lucrative blueprint for a smarter way forward for all peoples (especially indigenous Americans and Canadians) on Hollywood movie screens and Hollywood cinematic culture.
It’s groundbreaking what Mills and these lads are doing. Go New Moon as a powerful humanitarian text of positive messaging. Twilight just keeps turning the heat up as the series evolves. Love it. Let’s work lads. You’re more than hot! You’re history changers!

I agree with you the cast, but not with Taylor Lautner. For many reasons, until he proves his identity as a First Nation or Indigenous actor, you have to bring to light this issue. It makes the article less than what it is. Perhaps you choose to ignore in the article the issue on Mr. Lautner’s native ancestry.
HORIWOOD: what i meant by ‘enduring’ is… why do First Native Indian actors need to play ‘half animals’ before they get a break in movie land? Regardless, Meyer invented a way for these lads to get a start so full props to her and them for giving us these great stars.
I think consciousness of one’s Inidgienity occurs more over time. For example an apple tree is going to get older and just start to grow apples. Hopefully that is Lautner’s story. I think you make a good point though in Highlighting that for Lautner, expressing his First Native Indian ancestry and manifesting this more in a tangible form could be a potential issue. He is alreayd mainstream, and the trappings of Hollywood lure a lad just to see the fame and success of what it offers at the box office without necessarily having to advocate for the plight of his people. Jessica Alba is a good case study for Taylor Lautner. She’s always been proud to be of Mexican blood. She just never felt the need to express it until: a) she was an established star and felt secure to and B) she had a child who she was responsible for teaching her heritage to. Both her and her baby girl are learning Spanish this year, so it was a progressive journey for her.
I celebrate Lautner and The Twilight cast for their achievements this year. Though we do not want to see Taylor Lautner turn out to be a Hollywood potatoe (brown on the outside, but white on the inside) and not express the many gifts his ancestors gave him in the fullness of his heritage, it is an opinion like yours that helps a star like him, seek out his heritage more and express it. Criticism of Alba (being a ‘potatoe’ too) helped her want to express her Mexican-ness more, so it is all a part of that process for a star cast in a big Hollywood spotlight. Thank you for your opinion and sharing your insights with us all as a fellow Taylor Lautner fan. We See You! :)
Rock on!
